Butelka, warka do 25/03/17. Wysoka, ladna, kremowa piana, brudzaca szklo i niezbyt szybko opadajaca. Rodzynki. Pumpernikiel. Delikatniejsze aromaty to drewno, kakao, kwiaty. Lepkie w ustach. Wysoko wysycone. Fajnawe calkiem piwo, ale raczej nic ponad to - do najlepszych Belgian Strong nie ma startu. niemniej jak najbardziej pozytywnie :) PS: to piwo lubi wyzsze temperatury, takie niemal pokojowe

Shows a fairly clear dark amber colour with a quickly dissipating creamy tan head. Nose has sweet aromas of raisins, plums, sherry and chokolate. A sweet roasty taste that leads to a dry, bitter finish. Lively carbonation with small bubbles and a rich, syrupy palate. Very nice, well balanced with lovely aromas.

Bottle. Mahogany body, medium head. Nice and complex aroma with blackberries, roasted nuts and currants. Yummy. Sweet gently roasted taste with berry sourness and complex malts. Very malty. Finish has fresh raisin biscuits and currant sourness. This is really good and refreshingly different after a run of typical yeasty/caramelly Belgian Strong Ales.

The second Troubadour beer, since 2003; haven’t often tasted this since then so this rating is based on old notes. Sticky, beige, lacing head, very dark burgundy colour but not quite black. Liquorice, raisins, coffee grounds and bitter chocolate in the nose, malty taste, caramelly, nutty and a tad chocolatey but not as thick as one would expect from an 8.5% ABV stout, dried fruits, roasted coffee bitterish finish. Enjoyable and well-made, but there are more interesting Belgian stouts around twelve years later.

33 cl bottle at home. Pours a very dark brown with hints of red against the light. Large tan head. Aroma of wood, spice, licorice, slightly tangy. Taste is sweet and malty with a light bitterness. The beer has a sugary, almost cola-like mouthfeel and has a tangy finish which is quite pleasant. Overall pretty good.

Tap @ Mekong. Dark brown with almost no head. Very sweet smelling like chocolate malt. Flavor a lot drier than it smells, with some grassiness and light but noticeable bitterness. Smooth and not too heavy.

BOTTLE 33 CL. Aroma: chocolate, light roast, same hop profile as Westkust (grassy, lemony, unripe fruit), but less intense. The flavour is similar: sweet and bitter chocolate, red fruit, good balancing spicy hops, some ashes in the finish. No smelly cheese, unlike yesterday’s Westkust. It is like a younger sister of the Westkust, same but different, more of a stout, less of an IPA. Very good and well integrated.
