Bottle, deep dark red-brown with a fine clingy beige head, nose is old wine barrels, a little caramel and a touch of peppery hop. Palate is initially sweet with sultanas and burnt toffee, then turning lightly tart with winey notes, and finally notes of chocolate and spicy hops coming through.

On tap Glob Beer Tap Collection, Delray Beach, pours a deep dark brownish black color with a small tan head. Nose is sweet and honey like with syrupy malts. Taste is sweet as well, with rich malty flavor, and heavy toffee. The alcohol hides behind the deep malt and sweetness. Drinks easily and finishes on the sweet malty notes. Quaff Score 7 / 10

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Only Belgian beer I’ve had that reminds me of an American imperial stout, but does it without the viscosity (impressive at 8.5%). Really big, flavorful beer. Enjoyed at Wiering in Leuven. Curious how this compares to the Troubadour imperial stout (the one that’s actually designated as such) - my notes on that one were very similar.

"Cerevisia et musica laetificant cor hominis". Quale miglior citazione per descrivere questa fantastica stout belga.Schiuma beige, fine e cremosa. Colore scurissimo con riflessi rosso rubino. Al naso malto tostato, cioccolato fondente e erbe.Si lascia bere molto bene e la graduazione alcolica riscalda ma si nasconde molto bene tra le note amare del cioccolato e le spezie che danno una nota piccante e decisamente piacevole! Accompagna benissimo salumi, formaggi stagionati, piccanti e affumicati!
Da degustare tranquillamente ascoltando musica jazz. Per serate raffinate! :-P
