From bottle. Poured dark with a thick frothy brown head. Aroma of malts and dark fruit. Flavor was sweet. Malts, chocolate, spices, dark fruit. Roasty. Slight dry finish. Medium bodied. Smooth mouthfeel.

Bottle at Oud Arsenaal, Antwerp. Pours reddish brown with a medium beige head. Prunes and other dark fruits adds a sugary thing to the malt base in the aroma and flavour. Some chocolate there as well.

Bottle (Best by 09/02/09). Poured a reddish brown with a creamy tan head that left good lacing. The aroma is sweet with a dark fruit and malt balance. The flavor adds to the sweet fruitiness with some spices and roast backed with light alcohol. Medium body with a sweet yet roasty aftertaste.

An interesting hybrid. Kind of an English malt character but with Belgian yeast. Roasted malt and nuts. Big frothy head and black in color. A nice beer, but shouldn’t it be an imperial at this abv?

Had 6/20 at Dulle Griet in Gent. Pors dark ruby caramel with a minimal tan head and beautiful lacing. Roast aroma full of dark fruits and caramel. taste is fairly complex with some vineous notes. Don’t know that I’d call this a stout. Pretty thick mouthfeel.
