Dark blond to light orange beer, white head, non stable and non adhesive. Aroma: sweet malts, some fruitiness, citrus. MF: ok carbon, medium to light body. Taste: hop bitter, toasted malts. Aftertaste: hops, some citrus. Not exactly to be called exciting. I’ll stick to the Magma.

Bottle: As Troubadour Speciale:
Medium airy rocky white head, changes quick into an open lacing, on top of a hazy orange colred beer.
Smell malts, grains, hops, hint of soap, corn and a hint of candy cotton.
Taste corn, popcorn, malts, grains, herbs, light lemon, medium bitter.
Green grassy light hoppy bitter aftertaste.
Medium carbo, tingly mouthfeel, more towards a medium body and a watery texture.
A bit of a corny pale lager or pilsner.

Draft at Bavarian Lodge, All right, fdirst time live rating directo on the computer at a wi-fi equipped establishment. Cloudy orange body with a puffy head that leaves some thick lacing. Solid malty smell, no prominent hops to speak of, but not very sweet either. Taste is a straightforward, good, basic ale. Solid toastyy malts, a peppery Saaz or something like it hop background. Low esters, solid drinking, and a very dry finish, as advertised on B.L.’s beer menu card. So I’m rating the whole beer better than the sum of its parts, I guess. The basic Belgian ale style might have nothing that really reaches out and grabs me, but when it’s well put together like this, it’s remarkable. Finishes quicjkly, leaving some hops behind on the tongue.
