(Drinking date: 23 February 2014) Very dark brown colour, with a good layer of goodlooking foam. Smells like metal and a bit of roasted malts and coffee, and a little bit of hops. Not very special aroma, bit dull. I expected a lot more hops and roasted malts. Taste is bitter, but also fresh. Burned malts in the taste, and also coffee. The taste is much better than the aroma. The beer leaves a nice bitter aftertaste, and it also ’burns’ in the mouth and leaves a ’warm’ feeling in the mouth, due to the alcohol. The carbonation is exactly right, just as the mouthfeel. Overall this beer is good, but there is nothing special about it. Not really extreme or something like that. That’s why it gets the total score of 3.7

On tap at Pegasus, Copenhagen. Pours dark brown with a beautiful beige foam. Nose is full of roasted malts, coffee, vanilla and liqourice. Taste is citrus, dried dark fruits, some sweet caramel. Carbonation is medium and makes for a rather refreshing beer the complexity taken in consideration. The sour and bitter notes are perfectly balanced. - with thirst, Niklas

dense aroma containing nice spicy/peppery hops, port, booze, licorice, candy... sweet and very heavy bitterness that holds the great warming finish in an iron grip... heavy beer, complemented by fresh hops....

33cl Bottle: BBD 25th Apr 2016. Drank on 30th Jan 2014 in ’t Brugs Beertje. Pours almost a true black, but it’s really dark, dark brown with a deep red hue: lightly tanned head. Burnt malts rule the nose, they also take over the taste but not as much as in the aroma. In the mouth dark fruit flavours within a chocolate bar and a bittering hop undertone stop the beer becoming one dimensional and help to hide the 9.2% ABV which is always hanging around in the background. Different and most enjoyable.

0.75l bottle shared with The Tasting Crew. A deep dark ruby brown colored one with a big kinda beige looking head with great retention. Not too extreme on the nose, but I get tones of grounded coffee beans, cardboard, Nutella and soft chocolate traces. It’s sweet, but actually balanced. For me this tastes like an imperial brown ale, and I really enjoy imperial brown ales! Gentle oily in the mouth and the carbonation level is just above average. Lots of nice dark flavors here. Nutty dark with sweet chocolate and lactose. It gets better and better when gaining temperature. I’m not kind when saying this but it’s surprisingly enjoyable this! 23.10.2013

A dark and classic IPA without any big surprise. Tough in the alcohol with a mixture of hops and coffee. Strong, deep bodied - good one.

Bottle from Douberd - many thanks, Christos! The beer pours out in a deep black colour with low steady head and medium to smooth body. Aroma of ripe hops and dark grains. Taste of fresh hops, dark bread, light malt, torf, citrus, spices, herbs and light caramel. Medium-dry finish with some nice bitter hints. Nice beer.
