33cl bottle. Pours dark brown with a huge, creamy, long lasting beige head. Aroam has notes of malt, roasted, light caramel, light hoppy, fresh. Flavor has a sticky, moderate to heavy bitterness with a long duration and notes of roasted malt, some yeast. Bitter aftertaste

Bottle from Craft Wine Store 061114. This is a boozy beer and the alcohol is the first thing that you notice. Also some chocolate in the flavour. Initial pour leads to a big foam cloud.

Another great beer from Troubadour! A Black IPA, dark, hoppy and well balanced. Drinking it with a great view on the river IJ, @ Delirium Amsterdam.

Luxury beer on 75 cl bottles and if I didn’t miss out on anything, this must be Belgium’s first ’black IPA’. Sticky, yellowish white, stable head, very dark bronze colour approaching black. Aroma of coffee grounds, bitter chocolate, tobacco, whisky, nutmeg, candied dates, pepper, leather, citrus peel, parsley. Deep and thick but smooth chocolatey maltiness, powdery mouthfeel, candied fruits, oily texture, complex spiciness, finishing in a beautiful array of mouth-filling coffee bitterness, peppery and citrussy hoppiness and whisky-like, warming alcohol adding to the complexity. So far the best Musketeers beer I have tasted - but I’m still looking for those special Magma editions.

Csak dicsérni tudom ezt a főzdét, a korábban kóstolt két sörről is ódákat zengenék, s ez a típus, ha lehet, még kevésbé okoz meglepetést ízét illetően. A komlóra épülő, angolszász stílust nagyszerűen képviseli, egyszersmind tagadhatatlanul belga alkotás. Quadrupeles aromái nagyszerűen hordozzák magukon a marcipános, gyantás, túlérett gyümölcsök, füge és mazsola illatait. Speciális és rendkívüli módon szerethető black ipa, melynek íze tartalmas, likőrben úszó aszalt gyümölcsök, tűlevelű komló vonalait viseli, élesztőtől duzzadó kortyai kirobbanóan teltek. Marcipános lágyságát egy szigorú komlós zárás tereli más irányba, feledhetetlen élménnyel gazdagítva fogyasztóját.

Bottle from hopduvel Ghent. Pours high with fading thick white head. Smell of liquorice fruit and alcohol. Higly carbonated. Sticky malt taste with a lighter bitter and slightly boozy finish. Class Belgian strong ale with a modern twist

Pours a dark brown and is unlike the black appearance of most black IPAs. Nice light tan head which dissipates quickly. Aroma is sweet with vanilla, milk chocolate and molasses. Some figs also present. The palate is silky smooth and medium carbonation. The taste is a rich combination of sweet vanilla upfront which is taken over by a lovely roasted coffee bitterness. Really interesting take on this style and I was pleasantly surprised.

Pours opaque dark brown with a frothy 2 finger khaki head. The aroma is quite roasty, toffee, coffee, chocolate, with a hint of floral hops but not really any citrus but quite inviting nonetheless. Taste is initially sweet with chocolate, burnt caramel, plums, vanilla bean which then receives some grapefuit zest bitterness to cut through some of the sweetness. Medium bodied. Not much sign at all of the 9.2% ABV. Black IPAs aren?t normally my favourite style but this leans more towards an imperial stout and was highly enjoyable.
