Draught at Bryggens Ølbar. Dark brown with a dense, lacong beige head. Very roasty nose with caramel and toffee accents, smooth coffee and chocolate notes, ryebread, hops. Sweet malty, creamy texture, with a hoppy finish with notes of grapefruit and pine. Roasted as a stout but the body is slimer and it seems nowhere as boozy as the ABV suggests. Medium bitterness, perfect balance. Delicious.

I always say that a black IPA is a contradiction in terms. Apart from that, this is a lovely beer. It’s got the floral nose of an IPA, and that chocolate/coffee taste from a stout. A crossover that’s been done very well.

Bottle. Pours so darkly brown it could be black. Has an off-white head. Tastes are of roasted malts, caramel, chocolate and a fresh fruityness. Overall very sweet taste with full body and a some bitterness and alcohol in the aftertaste. Quite good - I enjoyed it much more than I would’ve expected from an IPA (probably because it’s not a "normal" IPA).

Bottle. Murky brown color. Malty, roast and herbal hops in the aroma. Malty sweet, roasty flavor with oily herbal hops and licorice. Some fruit hidden in the background. Very tasty.

Dark brown colour. Coffee-chocolate aroma. Taste is chocolate, hops and some bitterness.

Dark beer with nice carbonation. Aromas of coffee chocolate and roasted malts. Very smooth when its cold, and as it gets warmer the booze kicks in. Bitter aromas and taste, with a dry liquorish aftertaste. Nice beer.

Cloudy brown with soft hoppy aromas packed into mokka aromas. The taste is bitter with lots of hops and liquorice.

heel donker ondoorbier, weinig beige schuim, gerookt mout aroma,chocolade bitter en een bittere afdronk die lang blijft hangen. Met een hoog alcoholpercentage (9,2%) en een stevige bitterheid is dit een heel mooi bier om langzaam van te genieten

Hana @ Leskinen. Kaatuu lasiin lähes mustana vaahdon ollessa todella runsas (2,5 sormea) ja kermainen. Se myös tuntuu jopa nousevan pikku hiljaa lasissa. Kuplatkin voi suorastaan nähdä nousevan oluesta vaahtoon. Todella upean näköinen olut. Hajussa on vahvana paahdetta ja hedelmää (pääasiassa sitrusta, mutta myös trooppisempaa hedelmää), mukana on myös havumetsän (havua ja pihkaa) ja kahvin aromeja. Hedelmä ja paahde on hienossa harmoniassa. Maku ei ihan yllä hajun tasolle, siitä löytyy samaa paahdetta ja greippistä hedelmäisyyttä, myt havuisuus on huomattavasti vahvempaa kuin hajussa. Taustalla on suklaata ja hieman ruohoa/heinääkin. Suutuntuma on todella kuiva ja tasaisen katkera. Upean näköinen ja hajuinen BIPA, maku ei aivan yhtä hyvin pysynyt mukana, mutta sekin oli hyvä. Hieman hyökkäävä ja jopa hivenen liian kuiva (en uskonut, että olisin sanonut tätä IPAsta), mutta kaiken kaikkiaan paahde ja humalointi on saatu hyvää harmoniaan. Hieno olut.

750ml bottle, dark black-bourgundy-ruby color, with a big frothy thick bubbly beige head, leaving some lacing, mild roasted, chocolate, toasted malt, faint mochaish nose, with an earthy floral leafy, grassy, piney, minty hoppy accent, and with some mild coffeish, chocolate, brownie, molasses notes in the aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate with a nice warmth yeasty, citrus fruity, chocolate, roasted, toasted, caramel, black malty, earthy flowery minty, leafy, grassy hoppy character, with some light brownie, black bitter chocolate bar, mint chewing tobacco, faint mint jelly, black coffee flavours, and a chocolate chip cookie dough, subtle green molasses, dried dark fruit undertone, leading towards a yeasty, dark bitter chocolate, roasted maltiness, lingering grassy, minty, leafy bitterness finish.
