0.33L bottle. Pours clear black-red with a frothy, tan head. Nice combination of malt and hop aromas on this one. Resiny and floral hops, roasted malt, coffee, and some basement aromas, almost like camembert. Initial flavors are quite sweet with bready malt. Floral and resiny hop flavor, transitions to bitterness with lots of burnt malt flavor and herby hop, leaving warm alcohol in the back of the throat and chest. Full-body with a creamy mouthfeel and average carbonation. Overall, there’s a lot to like in this beer. It’s on the sweeter side, but has a great profile all-around.

75cl bottle, traded at ZBF 2013, merci, shared at Hugi’s homebrew Tasting. Pours a matt black, generous beige head. Immediate charred malt, ground Nescafe, roast porter aromas in the nose, given an earthy-white pepper edge from the BE hops. Taste also is very blackened malt forward, going on ashen, soil, pollen and floral notes gently coming in to join the dry molasses and caramel as it warms, with none of its 9,2% apparent. Along the lines of De la Senne’s BE interpretation of a Black IPA, with less lustre, tilting more towards Imperial porter on account of the ground coffee and raw powder chocolate graininess.

Strong aroma of burnt coffee, and belgian candy sugar. Black in color. A lot going on in the flavor. Some spice and pine notes sprinkled on top of dark malts, coffee, hints of chocolate, and dirty ashtray. Astringency is dominant and lingers.

Bottle shared by suurjuust, thanks! Pours dark brown with light tan head. The head stays. Aroma is fruits, roast, and alcohol. Flavor is roast, pine, malt, licorice. Palate is somewhat watery. Finish is roast bitter. Overall: ok beer.

330 ml bottle, 9.2% abv. Dark cloudy brown with foamy head. sweet chokolate aroma. Taste is bitter with chokolate notes, but not very hoppy. Alcohol is well hidden initially but suddenly hits you. Somewhat light bodied considering the high abv.

Bottle 33cl. Dark brown, almost black. Light brown head. Aroma is lovely, with caramel and chocolate? The taste has the typical bitterness of IPA, but also has characteristics of a heavy double. Good one!

Wat een mooi bier is dit zeg. Een dubbele ipa, met zachte afdronk en het goeie van een stout.
