Deep brown pour. Very thick sustaining head with a ton of lacing. Earthy citrusy hop aroma. Thick mouthfeel with a lot if sweetness in the malt balanced out with the same earthy citrusy hop flavor. Very good. Belgian yeast strain is not noticeable. ---Rated via iPhone

Bottle at the lowlander in drury lane. Stale vegetable aroma which is none too pleasing, but a pleasant coffee roasted malt flavour, astringent in character. Bitter chocolate malt finish, quite impressive.

ElManana (1225) - Scheldewindeke, BELGIUM - SEP 25, 2015
Bottle at Gents Bierfestival. Weard I never tried this before. Roast, light bitterness, quite sweet and malty. I would’ve liked more tropical fruits, and American hops in this. Maybe it wasn’t as fresh as it should’ve been? Decent enough.

from Au Grain d’Orge, Crissier - very dark brown beer under a solid long lasting beige foam; nice lace-work; licorice and black cherries dominate the nose; full-bodied and quite sweet; fairly bitter, some residual sweetness in a long hoppy finish showing notes of prunes, black cherries and licorice - quite simplistic and lacking a bit of dimension

Dark brown with thick dense head. Roasted malts, caramel, light coffee, hops. Sweet with a bitter and alcoholic finish. Quite syrupy, full bodied, average to low carbonation.

bottle, big thannks to tderoeck for the trade, fresh from the source. more like a dark red ipa than a black ipa, shortlived head, moderate lacing; aroma of cocoa powder, tropical fruits; slightly underwhelming bitterness, stonefruits, chocolate milk; okayish but not as good as i was expecting

750ml bottle enjoyed @ a friend’s cottage. Pours dark red brown with a small off-whit head. Aroma is floral, hints of coffee, roasted malt, carame and alcohol. Flavour is bittersweet. Medium bodied, thin texture, soft texture. Finish is hoppy and rancid with a little alcohol burn.

Kastanjebruin en helder, flinke beige kraag. Mout, hop, koffie, citrus, rood fruit. Iets te moutig. Alcohol weinig merkbaar. Zoet, licht bitter, licht zuur. Volle body.
