Bottle from Au Grain d’Orge, Crissier; bb 25APR2015
Very dark color, almost black, with generous compact head, persistent.
It’s a true Belgian beer, with a solid backbone and lovely yeast character, spicy; it has the extra touch of dusty roasted malts in the aroma and flavor; the final is quite spicy, and the bitterness is above the average for Belgian beers; although covered by roastiness, the hopping seems powerful.
Very good, but heavily roasted malts are not what makes a good Belgian beer better.

ChrisOs Marvellous Pre GBBF Mega Tasting. Very hazy dark brown beer. Very pale tan head. Smooth airy palate, a little soft. Light. Nice mellow dark malts, soft and creamy. Well integrated spicy pine hops. Really nicely integrated. Smooth semi dry finish. So very drinkable.
