4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20 Davros (1477) - Melbourne, AUSTRALIA - FEB 11, 2013
Pours brown with a lasting head.
Nose shows complex roasted malt with chocolate, cocoa, roasted coffee and oatmeal notes along with very soft spicy and resinous hops. Lovely.
The complex roasted malt follows as a flavour with more coffee. Some booze follows, lending a coffee liqueur character. Not all that much hops but there’s some definite resinous and piny notes. Well-balanced bitterness in the finish.
Nice soft carbonation, but it could be upped a little.

UPDATED: FEB 28, 2013 Really dark brown colour. Sweet, roasted malty aroma. Really silky texture. Has an intense flavour of roasted, bitter malts but it remains quite fresh tasting due to the hoppiness. Nice lingering bitter finish.

Draft @ ZBF 2012 // black with a creamy tanned head // smell is heavy of roasted & touch burned malts (lots of them), grounded coffee, no hops in the nose // taste is heavy on roasted malts, coffee, 95 % chocolate, smidgeon of liquorish, slightly bitter in the back (hops but little & none of the pine & citrus kind to be found) // medium bodied // more like a very roasted porter especially given the lack of typical pine & citrus hops etc. // regardless of those technicalities // this is a great beer

Very dark brown almost black with a super lacy, thick, lasting hugs the glass, sticky head. Smells of deep roast, chocolate, with some caramel and a hint of liquorish. Thin nice smooth oily body. Tastes of alcohol but smooths out with a roast that balances out so smoothly between sweet and sour.

Tap at Moeder Lambic Fontainas. Dark brown, big solid golden bubbly head. Looks like a milkshake. Aroma citrus hops, bit funky, touch of cream too. Taste is strange and nice. Quite strong, initial citrus, lemon and lime, goes into big creaminess and roasty chocolate, long roasty finish. Really biscuity too. Bit like hob nobs. Creamy too. Really nice. Nice and full bodied.

Hana @ Leskinen. Hieno olut.

4th August 2012 ChrisOs Marvellous Pre GBBF Mega Tasting. Very hazy dark brown beer. Very pale tan head. Smooth airy palate, a little soft. Light. Nice mellow dark malts, soft and creamy. Well integrated spicy pine hops. Really nicely integrated. Smooth semi dry finish. So very drinkable.

Bottle from Wine & Cheese in Clayton, MO. Capped 750. Pours dark brown with a 5 finger creamy light tan head. Aroma of dark malt with chocolate. Could be full bodied. Flavor is dark malt, chocolate and a lot of hop - which does seem to be resinous. It’s very smooth - tho the hop bite interjects. Finishes just a bit ashy, bitter and entirely delicious.
