Not black so much as very dark brown, with caramel highlights. Dank resinous hop nose like the fridge at a homebrew shop, with some sweet dark-caramel malts and notes of anise, herb and espresso. Both bitter and sweet taste with flavors of dark sugar, espresso and herbal hop-bitterness. Avoids the fruit of both American IPAs and some Belgian yeasts, going for roast and spicy-herbal hopping; has loads of character yet still winds up a bit muddled. From a large bottle shared at the Metafoor café in Leuven.

Good Black Ipa, Would try again. Quite hoppy on the nose, whilst malt taking the lead in taste. Good mix of Ipa and stout qualities.

Bottled 330ml (Saveur Biere)
Dark ruby color, good creamy beige head, lace. Woody, resiny, even caramelly-berryish nose. Medium-bodied. Sweetish caramel, resin, pine. Alcoholic kick. Warming. Robust, hoppy and also a bit boozy DIPA. Black IPA this is not.

Really good beer, totally dark with a huge dark beige head. Tastes of roasted malt, resins and some caramel, hops and cocoa. It’s not too bitter, but it’s really well balanced, remarkable beer I would gladly try again.

Pours a hazy dark brown color with medium to high beige head. Roasty aroma, caramel, coffee, alcohol, resin and slightly citrus. Taste follows the aroma, roasty/toasty, resiny, caramely and citrusy, but with a strong alcoholic note. Moderate bitterness on the aftertaste.

Bottle, 33cL. @Les Berthom, Tours. A very dark brown, nearly black, beer with a big light brown foamy head ; good retention and lacing. Light fruits (red berries, blackberry), herb, resin, roast, toast, pepper, chocolate. Light sweet, medium dry lasting bitter refreshing ; light warming baseline. Full body, average texture, light creamy, average good carbonation, fruity resinous dry bitter finish. Overall, a really good beer ! Nice toasty spicy bitterness ; good body.

Looks.. Black, tan cream large head. Smells..dark heavy roasted malts, sweet caramel, stone fruit and skittle citrus. Tastes..huge stonefruit, roasty malts and dark caramel, some coffee, healthy bitterness. Really smooth almost creamy mouthfeel. Darn good.

Mycket gott!

Almost black with a big frothy head which remains. Looks really perfect. Black IPA aromas; very hoppy, lots of chocolate and even more cocoa, dark malts and some coffee, quite complex. Even some berries, maybe raisins. Flavour: some hoppiness at first which quickly disappears. Cocoa is very intense, one can really taste the beans. Malt is not too intense, alcohol doesn’t come through either. All in all flavour is mild. Finish is not too dry. Cocoa/chocolate lingers for a long time. Really nice beer, an IPA in the nose, not so much in the taste.

UPDATED: JUN 8, 2016 Very hoppy nose. Dark brown white head. Smoky flavours. Bottle says only belgian hops. Very nice mix of dark beer and IPA.
