A dark, almost black porter, named for the part of the brewing process not quite covered by science. Dark Arts is brewed using a healthy dose of Black malt and Chocolate malt, to add to the flavour as well as to give the beer its dark colour. This unfiltered porter has a clear roasty flavour, but with hints of caramel and chocolate, while maintaining enough bitter hop presence to preserve its balance

500mL bottle into a shaker. Pours a deep dark brown to black with a big of a chocolate brown hint when held up to the light. Medium tan head that dissipated quickly. Traditional porter aromas of roasted coffee beans, toffee, and some burnt toast. Flavour again is very traditional porter of the above as well as some chocolate notes, some nice hop bitterness throughout the finish.

(50cl bottle from Deveney’s off-license, Rathmines, Dublin; BBD January 15) Pours deep dark brown with medium tan head that fades leaving lace. Decent regeneration. Aroma has notes of toasted malt with hints of coffee. Oily palate, soft carbonation, medium body and a dry, roasted finish. Flavour is largely nose-wise with a dry toastedness being more prominent. Decent.

If only, if only this beer had a bit more mouth feel, then it would get a 20/20 from me. This is a sweetish porter but not sickley sweet. I’m not a bug fan if hoppy bitterness and this one has only very little. A lovely malty, toffee chocolately drink. Only bought two from off licence in Kilkeel, Co. Down, must get more. Well done Trouble Brewing, a fine porter for me!...just thicken it up a weeee bit as we say in Ireland!caramel, cereal, toast, chocolate, earthy,

from Mondial de la Bière 2013, Mulhouse - black beer with a fast vanishing foam; aroma of vanilla and coffee; pretty toasted, moderate malt body, clean and decently tasty; a gentle earthy bitterness and more chocolatey and vanilla notes in the finish

Intense malty-choclate in the beginning. The mainpart is a bit light, milk-chocolate, but hints of water. The aftertaste is chocolate-malty, smooth, slightly bitter.
Nice and easy to drink, and for the 4.4% ok, but could be a bit more deeper and intense. --> 11/12/11/11
