Beerded_one (1570), Croydon, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 11, 2007 Sampled at vt brewfest 07. Pours a light copper color with a small off white head. Aroma of caramel, molasses, raisins, and some dried fruit. Flavor is similar to aroma with a nice dry finish. muzzlehatch (4425), Burlington, Vermont, USA Jul 31, 2007 6 ounce draught sample at the Vermont Brewer’s Fest (July 2007). Very little head sticks around atop the murky caramel body, little to no lacing....big caramel aroma, bit of cherry, blackberry and tobacco; not too dissimilar from the Weizenbock, I’d guess the same yeast and similar (barley) malts; and like that, it portends good things to come....which alas are not evident in the flaccid, sour and lactic body, which is a bit sweet at the front but quickly goes wrong; there’s also a "dirtiness" to it that strikes me as indicative of poor sanitation, in this case probably at the festival as all 3 of TR’s beers that I tried were off to one degree or another. Too bad, for once they were one of the breweries I was most looking forward to. weeare138 (924), Collegeville, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 5, 2007 Thanks to grassrootsVT for this...
Appears a semi-transparent burgundy toned brown with a small, off-white head that quickly fades into a mild cap and collar. Scattered spots of lacing are left around the glass.
Smell is of molasses, brown sugar, raisins, syrup, caramel, toffee, and ripe fruit.
Taste is of the mentioned aromas with toffee, and caramel standing out in the mix.
Mouthfeel is medium/full bodied, syrupy, sugary, and a light booziness found in the swallow.
egajdzis (2947), Terrapin, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 17, 2007 Poured a clear copper color, with a small light tan that left light lacing on the glass. Aroma of raisins, caramel, roasted malts, dried fruits, and smoke. Taste of more toffee malts, caramel, light raisins, with some peat, tannins, and alcohol in the finish.
