Rainbow Red Ale is a well-balanced, easy drinking American-style red ale. This brew has fruity esters, nutty malt flavors, and finishes soft and clean.

On draft at Three Needs, Burlington. Poured amber with decent head retention. Not much aroma going on. Flavor was of sweet malty nuts with a touch of bitterness.

Amber pour with a big white head. Rather fruity aroma. Sweet taste that ends with a slight bitterness. Wasn’t very impressed.

(Rating #1085)

On tap. Mild buttery notes, a bit of apple with caramel, not very sweet. Fruity with a little hops. Dull amber clear with foamy off-white lacing head. Light bodied with medium-soft carbonation. Dull red ale, not a lot of maltiness or hoppiness, not overly refreshing or crisp. Very average offering and not one I’d have again. Mild cardboard in the aftertaste.

I went into drinking this beer not expecting much. I read that it was exceptionally poor but it was not. The aroma reminded me of a Belgian, but I don’t think the brewer was going for that outcome. The body was a dark and cloudy dirty amber. Rich and full but didn’t appear to be all quality ingredient based. The beer came across as unique. The head held up while the beer stayed cold. There is definitely something funky going on with this beer.

Reddish-amber color, hazy, active body, frothy light brown head. Mostly lasting head, fair lacing. Light bread malts, banana, and alcohol. Initial taste is light sweet, moving to a light bitter finish with short duration. Body is light, with a chalky texture, and active carbonation. After the carbonation subsides, the taste disappears with it. Reviewed on February 12th, 2007.
