2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 DarkElf (2961) - La Jolla, California, USA - JAN 25, 2005(12 oz bottle, obtained in trade with Eyedrinkale, thanks Mike!) Upon pouring this beer, I was greeted by a slightly sour aroma, and given the rash of infected beers I’ve had lately, I was pissed. But the flavor shows no significant signs of spoilage, so I guess the nose is just on the sour side. The flavor is pretty simple, somewhat malty and lightly roasty, caramely but only mildly sweet, and moderately bitter. As stated, it’s not sour tasting, but breathing in though the mouth while taking a sip yields a slightly sour sensation. It’s fairly well balanced, but the overall flavor is kind of wimpy and isn’t especially enjoyable either. The body is a problem, being pretty thin and watery for the style, on par with the body of some lighter styles. Cloudy, with many small particles suspended in the beer. Deep amber color. Light tan head isn’t very impressive on the pour, but does manage to show pretty good retention, holding a thin layer throughout the session. Only a few streaks of lace are left on the glass, however.

(1er mai 2013)

2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 MarkBarnes (349) - Waterville, New York, USA - JUN 4, 2011
June 4, 2011; 12 oz. bottle from a BOTM gift package. The pour is red (no surprise there!); small head, some lacing; aroma of overripe fruit & malts. A vaguely cidery taste falls away quickly to water -- wish there were some hops to round it out a bit more & leave a better impression on the palate.
