An ultra-premium all-malt and traditional German-style ale at 5% alc./vol. Deep copper to light brown colour with an aromatic focus on malt elements of fresh baked biscuits and toast. Malt initially dominates the palate with typical Altbier flavours of biscuits, followed by an intense yet pleasant hop bitterness. A slightly dry body and reduced ale fruitiness is achieved by extended deep-cold aging. Can be served with beef soups, spinach salad, roast chicken, pork tenderloin, falafel, chocolate cake, and smoked cheeses.

Pours red clear. Berries and apples in the sweet slightly spiced nose. Mild fruitiness, floral. Some caramel and pepper. Good hop bitter. A little weak or waterery.

UPDATED: SEP 11, 2008 2008-08-26. Crisp dark copper body with a modest tan hand. (3+) Mildly tangy dusty malt aroma, caramel touches. (6+) Similar character to the flavour where a decent amount of hoppy bitterness combines with the slight tang in the malt, sweet caramel malt base. (6+) Average bodied palate is a touch more full than average. Decent but I do not love it. 6/3/6/6/13-14 - 3.1On tap at Volo, Toronto.

Feb 2004. Bottle. I have enjoyed previous samplings of this much more than this bottle. Orangey amber body with waifish off white head, has nutty playdoh (?) aroma to it. Flavour is interestingly different with some malt and bitterness, mostly towards the finish. Hmmm... 5/3/6/3/12 - 2.9

Nice simple malt aroma. Very clear amber colour with light white head. Sweet munich malt flavour but slightly sticky overall. Mild carbonation and refreshing mouthfeel. This is a pretty stright forward but emminently drinkable beer. Bottle.

Orange body, rather clear. Decent sized off-white head, but bubbles are irregular. It sticks the glass okay though. Malty aroma, bready, nutty, lacking a bit ofof depth. The taste is heavily sweet with notes of caramel and a weird late cherry syrup profile. Moderately carbonated, big water character. Lightly bitter finish. It seemed pretty ordinary and thin, I think I drank the whole glass in less than 5 minutes, it had been a while since I've done that with a first-timer.

Crystal clear orange brew with a creamy, off-white head. Interesting ink-blot lacework. Nutty, caramely aroma with notes of English toffee and milk chocolate. Malty, nutty flavor. Medium-bodied with a fizzy mouthfeel. Medium-length, dry, grassy finish. Very satisfying! Could prove to be a very good Fall session beer!

(Bottle) Pours a large, creamy almond head and an orange amber body. Nose of malt, tin and warm milk. Smooth malt flavour with a ever so slight bitterness in the finish.

Deep red/gold colour with a mostly diminishing rocky off-white head. Very lively. Nutty and caramel aroma. Medium bodied, slightly prickly mouthfeel, and very refreshing. Slight nutty flavour, with a touch of citrus, and a light but long and pleasant nutty and bitter finish.

Tasted at TFOB. Not representative of the altbier style. Little or no bitterness in the finish, undetermined aroma, and light watered down composition.
