Beershine (1440), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Oct 2, 2008 Draught @ One Duke, Hamilton. Clear coppery gold with nice white head and lacing. Floral hop aroma with sweet fruits like peach. Smells balanced and light. Medium to high carbonation. A little gassy. Alcohol is detectable making it seem gin-like in its dryness. Some crisp citrus zest and a relatively short finish. Not my favorite flavor profile but nice. mabel (1662), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Aug 4, 2008 [1268-20080409] 341mL bottle. Grainy hops aroma has nice fresh yeast. Clear, orange brown body with a quick creamy white head. Grainy alcohol yeast and toasted cereal flavour. Medium body is a little rough. "Just enough hops to be interesting." Beer Snob (356), Ontario, Canada Apr 28, 2008 Decent but very mild for an IPA with 6.5% abv.
Gold with a minor head, very mild aroma and as for the hops - more of a taste than the bite that I was expecting. Some residual bitterness.
It may not be as exciting and flavourful as some of the hop monsters that I enjoy, but a nice, refreshing ale on it own terms. Maltybones (51), Hamilton, Ontario, Canada Mar 29, 2008 60ml sample from the bottle at Hamilton Food and Drink fest. Poured a golden yellow with a thin filmy head. Very big hoppy aroma with citrus and grassy notes (no mean feat with so much cooking going on around). Flavour was a nice surprise. Very mild malts up front, followed by berry and pine flavours with a nice, although not over powering, bitter finish. Proves good IPA’s can be brewed in Canada and that they don’t have to be hop-monsters to be good. The_Jester (497), Peterborough, Ontario, Canada Nov 16, 2007 341 mL bottle. Pale copper-orange in colour; a little lighter than some other IPAs. Just a ring of head. Aroma leans toward the sweet malt. There is some hay and spice in there as well. Body is quite full. The taste is not complex, and swings back a bit toward the hops, although there is still some sweetness early on. The hop flavours (citrus, floral) are quite pleasant. There is some alcohol in there near the end. Nice bitter finish. Pretty good! Drink it while it’s cold.
