COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
An ultra-premium all-malt Strong Ale at 6% alc./vol. Attractive copper colour with a complex aroma that is assertive and alive with balanced sweet malt nuances and fruity/floral ale and hop aromatics. A rich, slightly sweet caramel malt flavour is enhanced by the taste of fresh hops and classic ale fruitiness. Hop bitterness is moderate to full, but well balanced by the malt elements. Perfect food pairings include but are not limited to onion soups, beef and pork ribs, lamb dishes, hearty stews, bruschetta, carrot cake, and cheddar and pecorino cheeses.

Too exhausted to put much into words. This beer is thirst-quenching with a creamy and smooth feel. The hops are alive just enough to keep things interesting as they poke through a caramel and vanilla backbone. Surprisingly tasty and easier to chug than water. Wasn’t expecting something this good.

341 ml bottle in 12-pack from TBS, served at cellar temperature in a tulip glass.

App.: Clear deep amber with a fair off-white froth. Aroma: Rich caramel, toffee, treacle, tons of lovely malt, some light nuttiness, a touch earthy, brown sugar, burnt sugar, biscuits, a touch of hops? Palate: Medium+ body, fairly full but smooth effervescence. Flav.: Much like the nose with plenty of rich, delicious, chewy malts and a restrained hit of pine/resin hops; dry with a little bitterness and a reasonably nice malt finish.

The name conjures up horrid macro-malt liquors and belies the true, and pleasant, nature of this brew. I’m happy with Magnotta’s products.

33 cl bottle, Mulmur, ON, Canada. Dense amber colour, frothy long lasting head. Some skunkiness and sweet caramel aroma, a bitter hit on the first sip, then very sweet, then transiting to fruit. Very interesting, not what I expected.

smell is an alcoholic resiny caramel, it pours dark amber with a thick white head that turns to a thick lace. taste is molasses, sugar syrup, a bit of toasted grain. the mouthfeel is sticky smooth and thick. this is an incredible, affordable session beer. wow

341ml bottle acquired in trade with Sammy (thanks!). Poured a medium and slightly hazy amber color wtih a smaller sized off white head. Aromas of grains, some fruitiness, and caramel. Tastes of grains (stronger than the aromas), lighter fruitiness, and a little toasty.

UPDATED: DEC 13, 2009 341ml bottle from an in-person trade with matt7215, thanks Matt! Pours a beautiful amber with a medium beige head. Aroma is just amazing, peat, cereal grains, worty awesomness, fruity and nutty malts, basically everything that rocks about these types of beers. Flavour reflects the aroma perfectly but takes it to a whole-’nother-level! A touch of Belgian milk chocolate and some mild hops in the finish but this one is so malt driven and I love it. Goes down pretty easy for something 6%. Amber ale? Maybe not, perhaps an English Strong, whatever it is it’s delicious! Reminds me in some ways like Rogue Hazelnut brown, and yet it also reminds me of Paulaner Salvator in terms of the malt structure, weird. I’m so impressed with this brewery so far .
