Oakes (6966), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Apr 22, 2004 Dark copper-amber colour. Off-beige, quickly dissipating head. Slightly toasty aroma, with minerally notes. Rather sweet underpinning that on most sips takes on cloying form but some toasty notes and perhaps even aromatic hops as well. A little different, but I wouldn't say in a good way. CapFlu (3339), Victoria, British Columbia, Canada Mar 9, 2003 (Bottle) Thin, white head and deep copper body. Sweet malt nose and flavour with some hints of molasses. Finishes sweet. Average. jerc (3210), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Aug 13, 2006 Bottle at TFOB 2006. Copper-orange with small white head. Mild malt aroma foreshadows a sweet malt flavour with light notes of toasty malt and caramel. Just enough bitterness balances out the finish. Palate is slightly more full than average. Have balked at commiting to a twelve pack to try this and am suprised how solid it is. I am wondering if they have changed the recipe because the earlier low ratings seem to not match what I was drinking. Sammy (3134), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Sep 16, 2008 Not bad for this brewer, a neutral aroma. Significantly lacey and golden with good sized white head. Taste is akin to a basic old ale, with barley noticeable in the finish, lager and average mouthfeel up front. Warming alcohol. A bit drying. GregClow (2345), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Aug 12, 2006 Bottle sample at TFOB ’06. Dark golden-amber with a small beige head. Aroma of dark, sweet malts and subdued hops. Well balanced flavour, with roasted and caramel malt and a expertly hopped finish. Another solidly constructed beer from Magnotta.
