4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 22415brewery (220) - redmond, Washington, USA - APR 16, 2010
I’m not a Pilsner fan.
Really, I’m not.
This one seems to take the cake though. This one is good. The green glassware bottle does not inspire confidence for we all know of the horrors of light-struck green-bottle beer...(see rolling rock). Nope, this one will do just fine. Noble hop aromas overwhelm the senses, it pours a very light pale with excellent head retention. Noble hops present a bit of a woody yet grassy aroma and smooth bitterness. The pleasingly clean and dry finish make this nearly flawless.

Pale yellow liquid with a creamy white head that sticks around very nicely for a pilsener. Some citric hops but mostly clean, sweet grains. Similar flavor, quite clean but lacks complexity. The hops are refreshing. Creamy and sudsy and manages to largely avoid watery lager territory.

12 oz bottle courtesy of bvc. Berkeley, CA on the side of the label, so I assume that’s where this one came from. Pour is clear straw golden with a perfectly white 1 1/2 inch head. Sploychy lacing lines the glass. Aroma is softly sweet cereal grain maltiness, along with nicely balanced mineral and earthy hops. Soft and fresh, nice. Taste is the nose, mildly sweet cereal grain, with a nice bite of mineral earthy hops. There is also a mild vegetal taste that detracts some. Palate is thin to medium bodied, with a nice active carbonation and a dry mineral finish. Thanks Brandon, I like this one - nice classic Pils taste.

330ml bottle. Nice, crisp bitterness to begin, with strong floral hops. Classic plisener flavour, with a clean palate and finish. A fine example of a plisener beer.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 BeerBlockaid (679) - Jacksonville, Florida, USA - APR 9, 2010
Bottle from store in Salzburg, Austria. I was riding a bike around Salzburg so I had to pick quick and light while at the store. I feel I might have passed up some better opps. This poured golden in color with a fair amount of white fluffy head. Nose is grains, grass, bread malts, and citric. Taste is the same with added herbs and mint on the back of the tongue. Body is light, crisp, and decently balanced. Would have a higher palate rating if it was beefed up a bit.

Trumer is my favorite pilsner available in a bottle. Fortunately, it’s widely available in bay area.

Bottle. Pours clear, sparkling light to straw yellow with a large, persistent, white, creamy head. Aroma is lightly grainy Pils malt with flowery hops. Clean with no diacetyl or fruity esters. Light background DMS notes. Flavor is light grainy malt with medium to moderate bitter, spicy hops that linger into the finish. Medium-dry bodied. Balance is toward hops. Light body with moderate carbonation.
1.7 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20 mkel07 (1556) - Brisbane, AUSTRALIA - MAR 20, 2010
330ml bottle. Light and airy with a pale gold colour and a lick of white foam across the top. Aromas of freshly cut hay abound mixed with hops. Dry with a metallic aftertaste. Nothing really good about this one.
