GeneralGao (3051), Iowa City, Iowa, USA Dec 8, 2005 Draught at Carolina Ale House in Durham, NC. Clear golden color with bubbly white head that laced the glass. Skunky hop nose typical of light European lagers ala Grolsch and Heineken. The skunky hops come out again in the flavor and are well a balanced with the dry malty flavor. Crisp finish. Not a bad beer. chriso (4685), London, Greater London, England Dec 8, 2005 Bottle, GBBF, August 2005. A serviceable, but lightweight German style pilsner. Vary pale straw colour - a bit anaemic looking. Faint aroma of grassy hop, with a touch of sulphur. Lean mouthfeel, with limited flavour. Some light, late hops. Not much to latch on to here.
zombywoof (355), Shawnee, Kansas, USA Dec 7, 2005 sort of a vegetal aroma. has a grainey taste sort of reminds me of lowenbrau. finishes clean enough turbo (1254), Arizona, USA Dec 1, 2005 Green Bottle
Poured yellow with a small wispy head.
Aroma of corn, grass and skunk.
Sweet malty corn flavor with a bitter finish hopdog (5535), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA Nov 26, 2005 12oz bottle acquired in trade with FlacoAlto (thanks!). Poured a light, light, light yellow with an averaged sized white head. Aromas of straw and grass. Tastes of grass. Thin body (but typical for a pilsner). Bockyhorsey (2487), Mesa, Arizona, USA Nov 2, 2005 You don’t even have to put your nose in this one to sense that pepe le pu is lurking in the room. Skunky. Yellow body with white head that disiapates rather quickly. Loaded with bitterness and bitter harsh palate. I guess not my kind of brew. Fish (439), Kure, Japan Oct 24, 2005 This was the next-to-last beer which I tasted at the World Beer Festival in Durham North Carolina on October 10, 2005. I’m afraid I was much too fucked up to know the difference between this beer and a glass lukewarm water with a barley stalk floating in it. So there. KAggie97 (2406), Ugly, Hot, and Humid Spring, Texas, USA Oct 23, 2005 Updated: Jul 14, 2006GABF 05. Pours a pale yellow with an aroma of, uh... uh... nothing. Typical skunky lager, but it does have a coating palate.
RE-RATE. Bottle at Around The Corner, Chicago, IL. Pours lively and carbonated, with a nice head and clinging lace. Silky, deep gold color. Flavor is grassy hops with a zesty skunk finish. Palate flows. Great pilsner. Very refreshing and drinkable. How did I miss that the first time around???
