heemer77 (4294), Savannah, Missouri, USA Oct 17, 2005 Updated: Jan 28, 2006From a bottle. Pale yellow body with plenty of carbonation. The aroma is light with some grass and carrots. There is aso a suggestion of earthy hay. The taste has grass and potatoes. Earthy with a finish like wheat flour. A decent pils. I was expecting a little more from this one. bu11zeye (5430), Frisco, Texas, USA Oct 11, 2005 (Draught) Pours a pale yellow body with a medium-sized white head. Aroma of wheat and grass. Flavor of metallic, grass, cream, wheat, and lemon. Gusler (2655), Tucson, Arizona, USA Oct 9, 2005 Draught at Papago
First time in a month or so, that I have been out and about, went to the annual "Papago Octoberfest" celebration, a "Frigging great time". Drank several of my old favorites, and a few newbie’s, like Trumer Pils.
The beer sets in the Trumer pils glass a sparkling gold with a magnificent crown of white, and as it slowly fades, a fine velum like coating of lace clings to the glass. Nose is fresh and crisp, sweet malt dominates, mouth watering describes this nose, start is somewhat sweet, nicely malted and the top light and pleasing to the palate. Finish has a brisk acidity, the hops perfect in their spiciness, quite dry aftertaste and a darn fine brew on a 95 plus Arizona October day, must say that I have gained a completely new respect for Lagers and Pils lately. Oakes (8058), gone rambling, Vietnam Oct 7, 2005 Light slight haze. Straw colour. Reasonably light body. Crisp, grassy hoppiness. Very fresh-tasting. Moderate bitterness. Dry finish. Well-crafted German-style pils. ratman197 (3141), Arvada, Colorado, USA Oct 6, 2005 Bottle poured a clear very pal yellow with a small short lived white head. Aroma was grainy and vegtal. Palate was crisp. Flavor was sweet grain with some herbal hop character and a clean finish. thehipone (197), Australia Sep 29, 2005 Tasted out of a slimline Trumer Pils glass. A nice crisp, refreshing pilsner. A bit fizzy out of the bottle but the body isnt terribly lively once in the glass. Light caramelly sweetness initially followed by herbal-spicy European hops. Only moderately bitter finish. Simple but elegant. beerbuff (9), Charleston, South Carolina, USA does not count Sep 26, 2005 A tasty pilsner. The draft is almost indistinguishable from Stella Artois in taste. I have to assume it is fresher because of being brewed in California. A big improvement over what the big 3 is putting out. DrnkMcDermott (1832), Downers Grove, Illinois, USA Sep 18, 2005 Updated: Aug 10, 200612 oz. Bottle, Apr 16, 2006 This is quite clearly labeled as being produced at the Berkeley brewery. Sold at Wild Oats in a six pack with a cylindrical pilsner/alt glass attached. Pours pale straw with a rocky, lacy head on top. Big German hop smell at opening stays with the pour. Lazy stream of bubbles rises through the glass. A nice German malt, with a very, very slight tart note. Kind of a grassy straw taste, finished of by straightforward noble hops bitterness. A solid interpretation of the style, and who’d a thought a place in Berkeley would have the discipline to make a pils to precise German engineering standards.<hr>Draft, Sept 18, 2005. Sampled in a solid plastic mug, so I couldn’t get a handle on its color. Have to presume it’s okay. Taste, though, is light and "crisp," like American pale macros claim, but this one really is. But beyond that, not much stands out in the way of hops, just the standard German bitterness against pale malts. Finished nice and dry. Again, an imported pilsner that’s probably much better closer to home. Additional note, Aug 10, 2006. Finishing the sixer, I found that last bottle started to show more nice German hop bitterness. Crisper and cleaner. I think that’s worth bumpint the rating up a notch.
