12oz bottle acquired in trade with FlacoAlto (thanks!). Poured a light, light, light yellow with an averaged sized white head. Aromas of straw and grass. Tastes of grass. Thin body (but typical for a pilsner).

You don’t even have to put your nose in this one to sense that pepe le pu is lurking in the room. Skunky. Yellow body with white head that disiapates rather quickly. Loaded with bitterness and bitter harsh palate. I guess not my kind of brew.

This was the next-to-last beer which I tasted at the World Beer Festival in Durham North Carolina on October 10, 2005. I’m afraid I was much too fucked up to know the difference between this beer and a glass lukewarm water with a barley stalk floating in it. So there.

UPDATED: JUL 14, 2006 GABF 05. Pours a pale yellow with an aroma of, uh... uh... nothing. Typical skunky lager, but it does have a coating palate. RE-RATE. Bottle at Around The Corner, Chicago, IL. Pours lively and carbonated, with a nice head and clinging lace. Silky, deep gold color. Flavor is grassy hops with a zesty skunk finish. Palate flows. Great pilsner. Very refreshing and drinkable. How did I miss that the first time around???

UPDATED: JAN 28, 2006 From a bottle. Pale yellow body with plenty of carbonation. The aroma is light with some grass and carrots. There is aso a suggestion of earthy hay. The taste has grass and potatoes. Earthy with a finish like wheat flour. A decent pils. I was expecting a little more from this one.

Draught at Papago

First time in a month or so, that I have been out and about, went to the annual "Papago Octoberfest" celebration, a "Frigging great time". Drank several of my old favorites, and a few newbie’s, like Trumer Pils. The beer sets in the Trumer pils glass a sparkling gold with a magnificent crown of white, and as it slowly fades, a fine velum like coating of lace clings to the glass. Nose is fresh and crisp, sweet malt dominates, mouth watering describes this nose, start is somewhat sweet, nicely malted and the top light and pleasing to the palate. Finish has a brisk acidity, the hops perfect in their spiciness, quite dry aftertaste and a darn fine brew on a 95 plus Arizona October day, must say that I have gained a completely new respect for Lagers and Pils lately.

Light slight haze. Straw colour. Reasonably light body. Crisp, grassy hoppiness. Very fresh-tasting. Moderate bitterness. Dry finish. Well-crafted German-style pils.
