1.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20 FatPhil (5970) - Tallinn, ESTONIA - JUL 24, 2011
UPDATED: JUL 25, 2011 330ml bottle (Stockmann, Tallinn) at the "Baltic Bollocks Beer Booze-up" for SaintMatty fest
5 On opening, a massive waft of citrussy hops. More subdued in the glass but still there.
1 Light green bottle, don’t do that. Pale yellow, brief head.
3 Desperately thin taste, nice and dry and attenuated like a pilsner should be, but missing something. Worse than that it has some stale papery notes.
2 Thin and watery, a little fizzy too. Finish at least has really drying finish - pleasant huskiness and dry citrussy and papery hops too.
7 Pleasant dry pilsner, but seriously lacking body, and too papery.
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 EithCubes (3052) - GERMANY - JUL 22, 2011
Tap in Salzburg back in mid-May. Grass and citrus in the nose, dry and extremely hoppy taste for a pils, smooth but crisp, light grass and hops in the mouth. Medium body. One of the better Austrian pils I’ve had. Burnt palate afterwards, but goodness.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 estpiwo (938) - ESTONIA - JUL 8, 2011
Bottle. Herbal aroma, golden color. Taste is quite refreshing, some hops and some malts. Drinkable.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 Wolfenkopf (137) - Villa Park, Illinois, USA - JUL 6, 2011
The aroma is a clean, sweet wheat, though it is not strong. The head is a fluffy white which lingers for a time. The brew is light yellow like a pilsner should be. It appears light and crisp and when it is tasted, the picture is complete. It is on the sweet side, quite like a Grolsch without the skunky background. It’s very crisp on the palate and clean right through to the end. There was no aftertaste whatsoever. I found it quite enjoyable, even though I generally prefer a more potent brew..
2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 faroeviking (8598) - Kongens Lyngby, FÖROYAR, FAROE ISLANDS - JUL 1, 2011
De una botella. Clear golden colour. Fresh grainy grassy hoppy aroma. Fair mouthfeel. Flavour is rather mild with grass/hay and grain, mild short bitterness. Boring.
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 tmoreau (1269) - Lombard, Illinois, USA - JUN 27, 2011
On tap at Lunar Brewing Co., and served to a tall, logo imprinted stange with a clear, light golden color, just enough white, creamy head foam, and nice cling to the wavy lacing. The nose was typical, lightly grainy Pils malt, and light floral hints of noble hop. Light bodied with some lively carbonation as a no nonsense, sessionably crisp, and lightly dry finishing German Pils.
