Enjoyed on tap at Trve Brewery in Denver, CO as part of a sampler. Appearance is pitch black with a light tan head. Aroma has a nice dark roast coffee profile with a mix of cocoa. Taste is really good, nice and dry, not too sweet, somewhat sessionable stout. Very good stuff!

Tap at the brewery. Pours a dark brown with milk chocolate colored head. Aroma is a nice mix of black coffee and dark chocolate. Nice roasted notes as well. Taste is nice roasted malts, notes of dark chocolate, slightly bitter black coffee. Palate is a bit thin, but with this flavor I was looking for the body of an imperial stout. Still a very good stout and one of the best TRVE beers I’ve had.

On tap at Trve. Pours a deep black with a small tan head. Roasty aroma, of burnt malt, brown sugar, and a bit of chocolate. Taste of toasted malt, molasses, vanilla, sweeter creamy chocolate and coffee. Lingering toast and brown sugar notes. Nice stout.

On tap at TRVE. Black with a light brown head and light lacing. Aroma of fresh coffee grounds, bitter chocolate and roasted malts. Similar flavor, malty, mildly bitter and lightly ashy. Medium body with a semi-dry feel. Not bad.

On tap @ TRVE. Pours black in color with a khaki head. Roasted malt, coffee grounds, and a touch of licorice. Cocoa, molasses, and a slight acidity. Notes of dark fruit sweetness. Flavor is kind of bitter. Very roast and coffee forward. Coffee grounds, dark chocolate, licorice, and molasses. Lightly acidic. Okay.

Tap @ Trve. Pours a dark brown appearance with a thin brown head. Coffee, roasted malty, chocolate, light smoky aroma. A bit thin, minty, coffee flavor. Fairly bitter. Not my favorite.

10 oz at the brewery. This is a true example of a stout. Pours quite black with a small tan head. Aroma is clean and balanced with bold malty notes of coffee, earth, dark cacao and roast. Palate is slick and medium heavy. I really enjoy the harmony of the roasted nuances going on. Lots of espresso notes, cacao, earthy bittersweetness. The finish is almost milky. Very purposeful flavor profile. Excellent stout.
