Yep this is a diaceyl bomb! Really makes everything else taste weird! Some caramel and hop regular AIPA stuff but really all you need to know is butter because that’s all I could focus on.

Cloudy gold - a fairly straightforward ipa here - soft carbonation - medium sweet up front, followed by some piney and floral hops that, in the end, kind of taste a little like sandalwood soap - medium bitterness and acidity - plenty of other local ipas that are significantly better.

Sampled at GABF on Saturday October 13, first session
This had run out at the brewery, since they needed to deliver it to the GABF and then sold out by the time I visited TRVE. I was happy to see they still had it at GABF though.
Hazy golden color, white head. Hoppy, citrus, caramel scent. Medium smooth mouthfeel, high bitterness. Chili aftertaste. Caramel, hoppy scent.

Tap. Pours clear light amber with a large, creamy white head, long retention with excellent lacing. Aroma is fruity, floral and pine hops, light citrus notes, straw and biscuit malt with fruity esters. Flavor is heavy hops and medium bitterness, fruity esters, supporting malt and a dry finish. Medium body and carbonation.

Tap @ brewery. Hazy, yellow orange appearance with a cream colored head. Passion fruit, mango, citrus fruity, a touch spicy, floral hoppy aroma. Somewhat bitter, floral, chewy herbal, passionfruit, mango fruity flavor with a slightly bitter finish.

On tap at the brewery. Pours a golden hazy amber with white lacing. Very floral and caramely scent. I agree this must be a better batch than earlier reviews because I found it rather well balanced with floral resinous hops and a little malty sweetness. Refreshing medium mouthfeel with a dry, smooth bitter finish.

UPDATED: JUL 15, 2012 Tap at the brewery. Poured a light orange color with a small white head. Aroma is very pine forward, grass, citrus, and weed. A nice dank smell. Taste is much the same pine, grass, weed, grapefruit peel, and light garlic with a moderately bitter finish. Mouthfeel and carbonation are medium. Pretty dank IPA, but could use some more body/caramel. Also, not really picking up the off-flavors others were. I think the new batch is much better.

Pour on tap at the brewery, fairly clear orange with white head. Not a good sign when the person next to me said, "this is so good, it tastes like they put butter in the beer!" Might have swayed my opinion, but aroma brought big notes of diacetyl with very clear buttery popcorn , some slight caramel, biscuit, bready notes, hints of grass and floral notes. Taste is a nice mix of bread, biscuit, and then the diacetyl hits again, slight toffee, grain and grass notes, finishing sweet. Something off in here for sure.

UPDATED: NOV 8, 2012 Oh man, this is a great IPA. This is a re-rate since they tweaked the recipe since opening day...and it’s never been better. It’s clear golden, smells like sweet grapefruit rind/fresh grass/caramel, and tastes like a superbly balanced American IPA. Lovely hoppy grapefruity notes, lovely subtle grassy and floral tones, perfect amount of hoppy acidic bitterness, with a smooth caramel backbone. Superb. Just missing head retention.
