COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask & Bottled. Available all year round.
Pronounced bla-han in Gaelic the name of this ale translates as ’little blossom’.
A strong floral nose and refreshing taste has made this a very popular pint. A single hop variety is enhanced with elderflower and pale malts to great effect.

Bottle from Deeside Drink Emporium, Banchory. It pours cloudy golden yellow, with a thick white head. The nose is big floral, particularly elderflower, honey sweetness and tangerine. The taste is soft citrus, orange, tangerine and floral, with a dry finish. Light body and soft carbonation. Smooth, light and easy drinking. Decent.

On cask at Cloisters. A light golden ale with a decent white head. Nice aroma of elderflower and barley. Similar flavours. A little bitter and dry. Nice!

500ml bottle at home. Pours a pale, hazy amber with a bright, bubbly head with good lacing. Beautiful aroma of elderflower and peaches, very clean. Taste is bitter and dry, with very little maltiness. Some very subtle sweetness form the elderflower, but it could be more pronounced. Aftertaste is relatively bitter, but rather short-lived. I find it hard to find much in this beer, it’s perfectly nice and refreshing, but rather bland. Shame really, because the aroma is so good.

From bottle. pours a light, clear straw coloured session ale. sweet fruity aroma apple, pears pineapple. light bitter flavour, gentle rolling hops with a subtle sweetness to boot. Cant really detect much if any elderflower in there but maybe it’s just contributing to the sweet side of things.

[500ml bottle, Oddbins Edinburgh] Slightly hazy gold from the bottle conditioning, aromas of grassy hop and plenty of wheatbeer style yeasty aromas. On the taste it reminds me more of a Belgian style pale ale - got the yeasty funk plus a hop addition and the grassy, fruity elderflower notes - which aren’t that full forward [06022011]

Half pint, cask dispense at Dagda Bar. Deep and bright, amber-gold body. Fragile lacing. Fresh floral hops to the nose. Refreshing taste of fruit with peaches coming through. Smooth bitter endnotes to a discreet oily palate (Edinburgh, 02.11.2010).

Cask at GBBF 2010, 3rd Aug 2010. Bright gold. Line of head. Bit dry and dusty but overall lacking in flavour. Decent enough bite at the finish.

3rd August 2010. GBBF.
Hazy gold beer with a little white head. Light dry palate. Well balanced orange hop and light elderflower sweetness. Finishes dry with a mildly bitter aftertaste.
