Bottle from Deeside Drink Emporium, Banchory. It pours hazy straw yellow, with a thick fluffy white head. The nose is white bread, hay and dough. The taste is citrus fruit, floral, grass, wood and solid bitterness, with a very dry finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Good use of hops.

On cask at the SRAF. A pale straw coloured beer with a thin white head. Caramel, grainy aroma with some black pepper also. Flavourwise, there was some spice and mild bitterness although these didn’t linger. A little chewy but not overly complex.

Cask at Battersea beer festival 2011. An amber coloured pour with medium white head. Fruity, hoppy aroma. Tastes hoppy, malty, citrus fruit, crisp and refreshing. Very drinkable session beer.

Cask conditioned at Far From the Madding Crowd, Oxford. Gold with white head. Good fresh hoppy aroma leading to a light, bright hoppy beer, pleasant lemony notes, sharp, slight pine notes and a touch of herbs. Decent beer.

Big fruity nose, pineapple and orange. Floral, very clean and fresh. Yum. Poured a clear amber, until I dropped the sediment in... Whoops. Thick, bubbly head with decent lacing. Prickly mouthfeel, straw and some more pineapple kicks in along with subdued creamy malt and a big hoppy bitterness. Very drinkable, I like this.

[500ml bottle, Oddbins Edinburgh] Pours a slightly hazy golden colour, some dispersing head but vanishes pretty quickly. Sharp citrus aroma - grapefruit bitterness. On the tasting, bitter citrus follows on - lemon, grapefruit sharpness, some hops but with not much alcohol to back it up it’s refreshing but I wouldn’t say a classic American style Pale Ale - needs to be 6%+ for that. Still, it’s a decent beer [06022011]

Warning! Early amateur rating! Crispish beer. Passable fruitiness. Fairly bitter. Reminded me of Deuchars but sharper and more bitter.

Cask at Bedford Arms, Bedford. Copper gold with a small white head. Floral hop aroma with an unattractive whiff of underarm. Sweet fruit, grapefruit perhaps, introduces the taste, but a sharp hoppiness is the main event.
