Bottle from deeside drinks emporium, pours a thick black with a frothy brown head which lasts. Aromas of chocolate, creamy coffee, with a slight wood smoke. Flavours are very similar with a strong, charred smokey flavour which is surprisingly enjoyable.

Keg at Glasgow Real Ale Festival. Aroma is strong coffee, well matched by the taste. Slightly watery, and taste quickly fades, which is disappointing

On tap at the Southern.
Appearance - opaque black with a decent head.
Nose - rich dark chocolate. Cream.
Taste - more of the same.
Palate - medium to full bodied with a creamy texture and a fairly fresh finish.
Overall - it’s good but it lacks individual personality.

Had a pint of this from the Golden Rule in Polwarth, Edinburgh last Friday. One of the best beers I’ve tasted.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Cask. Bitter chocolate aroma. Flavour is sweeter than the aroma indicates and is not shy on the chocolate front. The initial sweetness is balanced nicely with a light bitter finish. Delicious.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Poured a reddish amber with a frothy tan head. Aroma of roast malt and dark, bitter chocolate. Smooth, watery body, flavour of milk chocolate and roast malt with a bitter/sweet finish. A bit unbalanced.
