Poured a reddish amber with a frothy tan head. Aroma of roast malt and dark, bitter chocolate. Smooth, watery body, flavour of milk chocolate and roast malt with a bitter/sweet finish. A bit unbalanced.

Flaska.

[500ml bottle, the BeerHive, Edinburgh] Pours deep, dark brown with a thin off-white head. Reduces to a lacing after a while. Sweet, syrupy chocolate aroma, almost like cheap Easter egg chocolate, very milky. Not unpleasant though. Extremely chocolately on the flavour, sweet and very mellow. Unsure about the bitter aftertaste, it doesn’t sit well after a while. Maybe tipped some of the sediment in as well, I was trying not to. A good beer in there, let down by that unusually bitter, acidic aftertaste [05022013]

Aroma: Rich dark chocolate and vanilla.
Appearance: Dark brown body with ruby highlights. Beige head that holds well. Thick lacing marks.
Taste: Very chocolatey with hints of vanilla and caramel. Like a liquid Mars bar.
Palate: Medium body with a smooth, oily mouthfeel. Flat carbonation.
Overall: Luscious and very drinkable. The most chocolatey beer I’ve ever tasted.

Bottle from Deeside Drinks Emporium. It pours very dark brown with a beige rim. The nose is immensely chocolate, more on the milky/chocolate cake side than the dark variety....not much else, perhaps some oreos and caramel. The taste is chocolate, oreos, caramel, roasted malt, wood, light astringency and gateaux with some bitterness in the finish. Light-medium body and pretty much flat (a shame!). The smell is rather sickening after a while. Pretty one-dimensional and the condition isn’t great. Not for me. If you like the Sam Smiths Choc Stout you’ll enjoy this.
