2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Looks like a pale lager, no tricks here. Malt and straw in the nose. Tastes a bit sweetish, with some slight hoppy bitterness, but just too little.

Bottle. Very pale yellow with small white foamy head, doughy aroma, high carbonation, sweetish taste with slight bitterness at the end, abrupt finish. Very generic and watery.

1.5 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 5/20
Can from 7 11 in HK North Point: Aroma with corn/grain and shy grassy hops. Pale golden color, white head. Flavor is sweetish, very corny and grainy, somewhat artificial. Shy hop bitterness in the end, light astringent. Watery, not good.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Tsingtao Pure Draft Beer has a thick, spongy, white head and a clear, bubbly, straw appearance, with minimal lacing left behind. The aroma is of sweet, light, barley malt, and the flavor is of the same, with a perfectly placed hop balance at the end of the sip. Mouthfeel is light and watery, and Tsingtao Pure Draft Beer finishes crisp, clean, refreshing, and drinkable. Overall, this is excellent, and I love it. RJT

1.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20
500 ml pull-tap can bought at DCH Food Mart in Sheung Shui.
Very pale urine yellow color; Half finger head and soda-like white foam which last for about 40 seconds; Minimal lacing and fizzy carbonation; Sweet smell of malt, strong rice, lemon and light grass; Light sweet taste of weak malt, VERY strong rice, wet cardboard, light wort, and very faint citrus + grass; Mid to light body, slighty oily palate; Taste profile is overwhelmingly rice, malt taste is really low. Sweetness can be felt, but not as sweet as previous reviewers indicated, tolerable and harmless actually. Wet cardboard becomes evident as beer warms but thankfully there’s no chalk taste; Hoppiness is low lemony grass nose, paper thin citrus and grass taste, and detectable bitterness for a semi-finish; Slighty dry after taste, very easy to mouth.
Comments: I am really amazed at Tsingtao’s ability to churn out crappy macro by numbers, yet each one I’ve tasted is diabolic in its own way, and so is this one: a very un-drafty rice beer with wet and thick mouth feel, cardboard-ish yet surprisingly chalkless. It’s lowly but not condemnable, at least it’s no drain pours. Drink this real cold and you are okay.

Golden yellow, not as sweet as a lot of these Chinese beers. A touch of hops, but pretty bland.

2.3 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle, looked very tempting but the first mouthful turned this into a big disappointment. No trace at all of the brewery’s German ancestry.

1.6 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20
Hilarious, the beer can has a 70’s style ring pull, this provided great amusement!
The beer looks right, amber with white head. Aroma is thin and corny, flavour is floury, corn syrupy and finishes sweet and devoid of any pleasant bitterness.

1.3 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 2/20
Bottle, looked very tempting but the first mouthful turned this into a big disappointment. No trace at all of the brewery’s German ancestry. Bland, with no hop bitterness, just the usual thin beer you get when using rice as a main ingredient. Instantly forgettable!
