HuiQuan Beer ‘spring made’ 11° 4.5%-330ml can-pours a thin white head with pale yellow color. Aroma is grain, sweet. Taste is grain, sweet, effervescence. Good. Expiration 7/1/07. (TsingTao apparently)

I love Tsingtao beer, and this Hui Quan version is a great beer. Clean, pale yellow colour, tastes watery but has an aftertaste that gives something back to you. Very easy drinking, suited with Asian food dishes.

330 ml can bought at Wellcome Superstore in Sheung Shui.

Piss pale golden yellow colour; Razor-thin head and residual white foam which fades in 10 seconds; Near zero lacing and notable carbonation; Sweet pungent smell of malt, rice, grains, traces of lemon and grass; Very light sweet taste of weak malt, with strong rice, hint of wet cardboard, and notes of citrus & grass; Light body, thin but slightly slick palate; Taste profile is very low rice and grains, with malt taste being not as low as I expected. Sweetness is low and harmless, almost Pils-like. No foul taste as wet cardboard hint becomes less and less evident with further sips. Not bad! Hoppiness is very low citrusy grass nose / taste, and detectable bitterness for a semi-finish; Pretty dry after taste, very easy to mouth.

Comments: Amazingly, this is one of the better offerings by oft-disappointing Tsingtao. In fact, it’s much better than many of the Tsingtao’s propers: it’s a macro alright, but how often when you come across a macro with near zero sweetness, very low adjunct taste, decent lean body, no foul taste, and finish the whole thing with good degree of satisfaction? Here’s one of them and it’s inexpensive. Like the Yanjing Draft 4.5% 11°P, this one gets the most bang out of my bucks. A macro gem!

Small offwhite coarseish head doesn’t last. Clear yellow body with light carbonation. Light perfumy jasmine aroma with floral notes. Dry-sweet mealy jasmine taste with floral notes. Mid-to-light body. Mild, soft mouthfeel. Dryish floral perfumy jasmine aftertaste. OK, so this beer is the same all the way through. Fairly nice, certainly drinkable, and perhaps even slightly subtle. (0.64l bottle, Wellcome, Lohas Park, Hong Kong.)

A little thin in body but still gives you a rather mild imported flavor. I think it beets the green bottled Tsintao in taste. Close to a quality American beer but not near the tails of the independent American breweries. I bought this at a Japaneesee grocery store and only paid $3.99 for it sound it is a cost effective decent tasting beer and that makes a big difference.

Pours gold with a bright yellow tint. White head almost disappears completely after a few minutes. Weak malt smell and a little corn. Forward bite. A little barley a little corn and a little sweet. Good on the Mai Fan in Xinfeng with friends.

UPDATED: OCT 17, 2016 Apparently a not-too-bad one in the Tsing Tao macro universe. Pale golden with soapy head and the typical foul macro aroma. However taste hasn’t got that owful corn syrup sweetness of most macro lagers, with a strong malty character. Good for sessions... but... it’s all chemicals and fake crap. Watch the bowels the next day!

Can. I picked this up in Hong Kong. Old school can with a pull off top. Nice white head. A musty aroma. The flavor is dull but not painful, slightly sweet.
