2.3 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Black with a nice fluffy beige head. Aroma is weak roasted malts. Taste has something chemical it could be good without that. Caramel and bitterness would be quite balanced but that awful nail polisher taste spoils it. Overall a very decent product, for Tsing Tao

33cl can in Hongkong. Smooth strange beginning. Malty-bitter, quite sweetish-viscous. Harsh-bitter aftertaste on a malty-bitter but a bit unpleasant aftertaste. Strange.

Dark brown color. Port, dark fruit, brown sugar and raisins dominate the nose. Actually quit a nice nose. The mouth shows some dark chocolate, raisins, almost like a Baltic Porter, but ingredients are very mainstream.

Bottle, brough to me from the brewery n China by phantomhennes-- thanks Ian! Dark cola-brown, medium light brown head, decent retention. Aroma is roasted malt and a hint of bubblegum. Dry roasty palate, some dark caramel too. Chalky finish. Better than expected!

2 bucks Bottle from Century Mart in Shanghai. 6.7% It pours a dark inky black with a thick tan creamy head. The nose is roasty malts & yummy milk caramel. Medium-thin bodied with a sharp carbonation. The taste is pretty good that sweet milk caramel(think those cubes you got at Halloween as a kid) balanced perfectly with toasted malts and bitter dark chocolate. I like it. Best of my supermarket haul so far.

Chinski mocny Stout w eleganckiej ciemnej szacie. Wyglad to glebia czerni nieprzezroczysta, piana lekko brazowawa, sporawa i ladna niestety za szybko opada. Zapach lekko lukrecjowy i lekko piernikowy. Pozostawiajacy pewien posmak delikatnej mlecznej kawy i finisz za to zaskakuje jest dlugi i wytrawny.

UPDATED: MAY 4, 2015 Re-rating due to finding this version rather than the 4.5% domestic version. 330ml can bought from Wellcome on Peng Chau Island, Hong Kong. Pours dark brown black with a thin off white head. Aroma of burnt malt with some chocolate and coffee. Sweetish finish. Pretty similar to the domestic version but clearly with more body.

Bottle @ weekly tasting shared by Joes. Brown color with a red glare coming through, small to medium sized beige head. Smell malts, rotting leaves, caramel. Taste malts, vegetables, leaves, caramel. Average body and carbonation. No, don’t like it at all.

This was a gift from a friend Doug B, who brought it back with him from China, thanks Dougie! Poured with a light tan head, no lace and a clear dark mahogany color. aroma is malt vanilla anis and the barest hint of roast. Flavor is dominated by carbonic tang. Then really there's a little bit of dark sweet malt and not much else. Bodies is just a bit on the thin side. I guess if you didn't have many options for dark beer this would be welcome.
