better than I expected really. Pours dark brown, nearly black. Light brown head with spotty lacing. Medicinal, or herbal nose really. Licorice, roasted malts, coffee and some smoked meat quality. Medicinal taste and feel. Quite different when adding in a smoked meat feel. A lot more smoke than the nose leads on. Slow sipper but quite nice and a good tick.

Bottle from a grocery store in Hong Kong. Watery, bitter - not hoppy bitter, but charred bitter. Pissy, tastes like something that cigarette butts have been tossed in. Horrible! Not sure if this is a true stout, but it’s one of the worst black beers ever.

Bottle from Hong Kong, 08/02/2012. Cola pour, creamy beige brown head sticks around. Aroma of chocolate malt, medium roast, bit of caramel, nutty. Taste is chocolate, medium roast malts with peculiar sweetness following, bitter finish. Medium palate. As others have said, surprisingly not bad.

This was not bad at all. Dark cola like appearance, with nice brown head. Smoky aroma. Taste is sweet and malty and roasted. Pretty good.

355 ml bottle @ Timo A.
Pours deep dark red color with small lasting head. Aroma is quite mild with some dark malts, grain notes and a bit of sugar. Flavor of sugar, caramel, mild dark malts, dry chocolate notes and some hints of berries. Dry malty palate with a mild berryish finish. A lot better than I expected.

Aroma is very light with some roastiness, cocoa and hints of smoke. Flavour is very dry and medicine‐like with licorice, dark chocolate, some spices, hints of anise and ash. Quite typical foreign stout, but a bit drier than others in this style. Better than I expected.

Deep dark brown coloured body with a nice, two centimetre tall but fading fast light brown head. Aroma of chocolate, raisins, caramel and a touch of a bit of roasted malt. Medium to Full-bodied; Deep chocolatey malt flavour at first with some nuts, caramel, toffee and a lot of prunes. Aftertaste is quite robust with nothing large and opaque, just a nice earthy, malty flavour with a ton of sweetness and a decent amount of alcohol coming through - especially for the brewery, you don’t expect this at all. Overall, a rather nice stout with some good true flavours with a long-lasting flavour that would go well with some earthier flavoured food here. I sampled this 33cL can purchased from CitySuper! Grocery Store at 2 IFC in Central, Hong Kong, SAR China on 10-August-2010 sampled at home in Washington a few days before setting back out to Hong Kong, in which I could imagine drinking this with some noodles from Tsim Chai Kee or Mak’s a few blocks away on Wellington in Central.

UPDATED: JAN 24, 2013 Bottle gift from the brewery. Pours nice and dark with brown/tan head. Aroma of heavily roasted malts that carries over to the flavor. A bit one dimensional in the flavor but surprisingly better when compared to their other products.

Bottle @ Hotelroom, Kunshan. Pours black with a creamy light tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate, vanilla, notes of coffee. Taste is roasted malt, licorice, coffee, burned toast, light medical touch, dark chocolate. Medium body, soft carbonation. Okies stout, flavour far more bitter than aroma, but the medical notes are putting me abit of. 050112
