Tsingtao Beer has a pleasant aroma and a well-balanced taste. It has high-malty flavor and well-hopped character. Tsingtao is produced with spring water from Laoshan, a mountain area famous throughout China for the purity of its water. The domestically-grown hops used to brew Tsingtao are of such high quality that they are also exported to European breweries. Tsingtao also uses the finest yeast and barley imported from Australia and Canada in its brewing process.

NOTE: Under this entry, rate ONLY exported Tsingtao that roughly matches the ABV and local Tsingtao that matches it completely. If it differs in any way and doesn’t match the other entries under the brewer, please send in a bug report with the alcohol percentage, degrees plato (important!), the GTIN and preferably a link to a picture of both the front and the back label so that we can set up an entry.

Very neutral blond beer. Golden colour with a fast decreasing head. The taste is smooth with floral aromas, light body but it is quite sparkling. I’d never drink it on its own, but next to chicken tandoori or duck it’s pretty good!

UPDATED: NOV 13, 2005 Solid beer. Pleasant. easy to drink. well-balanced. A good beer to drink with a meal. Not neccesaily to enjoy by itself.

Not bad, but not all that good. Try it if in China...then order a coke. Better yet, try Great Wall wine instead...

Not a bad beer, just not a very good one. If you need something to wash the General Tso’s down and nothing else is at hand, reach for this.

Bottled. Not altogether unpleasant, though pretty plain and a bit artifical tasting. What the hell is premium about this lager? Has a distinctly sour, chemical aftertaste that I suspect comes from the rice added during brewing.

I Thought that it was much worse. This beer is much light one, from the light body, nearly deprives of stuttura. Drinkable

Bottle. 4,5%. Pours pale yellow with a short lasting white head. Aroma is citrusy hoppy. Flavour is equally citrusy hoppy with an occasional note of baking yeast - not very nice.

I must say that when I purchased this, I was a little distraught that it had modernised its retro label after a few decades of the old bland and yet homely font. Poured into a tall stein. Clear pale straw with a lot of irregular carbonation failing to raise any head past a bubbly ring. Slightly skunky, sour lemon and freshly mowed grass nose with a little haystack chaff. Lemonade and chardonnay white wine flavours in the mouth, very clean, light bodied and quite lively in carbonation. Finish is a little clammy, reminiscent of lemon concentrate. Very low grassy hop tones seem to assist the sour malt flavours, rather than alter them. Very light in flavour, clean and crisp, there was nothing really disagreeable about this one, and I suppose it has its place on a sunny Sunday when the grass is getting long. Thirst quencher and little else!!! (33cL bottle, 4.5% ABV, BBE 06/06)

Bottle (355ml) Had this with dim sum at the Pearl restaurant at Harbourfront, Toronto. Pours a clear sparkling light yellow with an average, quick diminishing white head. Aroma is quite light, mild grain (corn & wheat) and slight hops, mildly sweet but not oppressively so. Taste follows the aroma - very light and cabronated mouthfeel, quite good with spicy food but I wouldn’t have it on its own.

Bottle, 33cl. Not much to say about this one.... Pours a pale yellow liquid with a small white head, almost without aroma. Watery flavour with hints of something like hops. Very refreshing and decent enough to go with a dim-sum or sweet and sour pork! But if you are loking for a real beer.... try something else.
