COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Tsingtao Beer has a pleasant aroma and a well-balanced taste. It has high-malty flavor and well-hopped character. Tsingtao is produced with spring water from Laoshan, a mountain area famous throughout China for the purity of its water. The domestically-grown hops used to brew Tsingtao are of such high quality that they are also exported to European breweries. Tsingtao also uses the finest yeast and barley imported from Australia and Canada in its brewing process.

NOTE: Under this entry, rate ONLY exported Tsingtao that roughly matches the ABV and local Tsingtao that matches it completely. If it differs in any way and doesn’t match the other entries under the brewer, please send in a bug report with the alcohol percentage, degrees plato (important!), the GTIN and preferably a link to a picture of both the front and the back label so that we can set up an entry.

33cl found at Colruyt.

Bottle 330ml. January 27th, 2012 Bad malt taste, nothing good for me from this beer. A beer with no spectacular attributes but we need to taste a beer like that, if only, to better appreciate the good ones. rating # 38

China’s most famous beer is just like most other lagers, exhibiting little aroma, flavor or palate.

Pours yellow with a smallm unstable head. Smells a bit yeasty, a bit of rice. Tastes quite boring. A bit hops (hay, grass, flowers) but nothing exciting.

UPDATED: JAN 19, 2012 For many UK drinkers, Tsing Tao is to Chinese restaurants what Kingfisher is to Indian restaurants - an inoffensive, mild flavoured pale lager which works as a decent complement to strongly flavoured food. It can afford to be lazy in the taste and palate department - who will notice? Not the kind of beer that stands up and gets noticed when drunk on its own. This has less flavour than its Indian equivalent, even paler in colour than many a pale lager, no hops of any note, hardly noticeable aroma and is rather watery. Select a bottle of Singapore’s Tiger Beer from the menu instead which is a more flavoursome companion to an Oriental meal and a decent lager in its own right.

It’s not the worst thing I’ve ever had but it’s pretty close...no malt, stale bland bitter hops of any. Whole thing tasted like sour bath water.
