COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Tsingtao Beer has a pleasant aroma and a well-balanced taste. It has high-malty flavor and well-hopped character. Tsingtao is produced with spring water from Laoshan, a mountain area famous throughout China for the purity of its water. The domestically-grown hops used to brew Tsingtao are of such high quality that they are also exported to European breweries. Tsingtao also uses the finest yeast and barley imported from Australia and Canada in its brewing process.

NOTE: Under this entry, rate ONLY exported Tsingtao that roughly matches the ABV and local Tsingtao that matches it completely. If it differs in any way and doesn’t match the other entries under the brewer, please send in a bug report with the alcohol percentage, degrees plato (important!), the GTIN and preferably a link to a picture of both the front and the back label so that we can set up an entry.

Pours a pale golden color. Foamy white head. Smells skunky. Taste, however, is fruity and sweet. Quite different from aroma. Not a huge fan but it was free :)

This right on the level of the American macro stuff. Very slight malt taste, everything else is skunk. Not nearly one of the worst beers I’ve had, but it isn’t very good.

Pale lager, premium lager, a rare few are worth a damn, and this doesn’t nearly resemble one of them

Medium white head. Paleish yellow body. Light oily grassy papery aroma with toffee notes. Dryish papery mealy strawy grassy taste with toffee notes. Light body. Mild, smoothish mouthfeel. Dryish papery grassy aftertaste. Fairly clean, although bad off-flavours settle in the mouth after a while. Bloody hell! They actually put hops in this. Could be a lot worse. (0.33l bottle, Meny Grønland, Oslo.)

Bottle at Indian Summer, Brighton, 14th July 2010. Piss yellow with an attempt at some head. Weak nose, bit of cardboard & paper. Bland, weak and watery macro lager taste. This is a "Thatcher" beer - only drink when *there is no alternative*!

Very pale, watery and thin, very little on flavour, although it does have quite a nice subtle aroma, seems to appear in quite a lot of chinese restaurants nowadays

Tsingtao beer. How can I say this nicely. It sucks. It’s not the worst beer that I’ve had but it certainly isn’t what I would call a good one. I’ll start with the appearance. It’s a clear golden yellow color. The head that is there is white, but there’s barely any head to begin with and what is present has no retention. It has a hoppy aroma, but that in and of itself isn’t too strong. It may have been the environment that I was in masking the aroma, but I doubt it. It has a thin body with a mild to low carbonation. The flavor was disappointing as well. It has a slight tint of malt but the thin body doesn’t retain the flavor very well so it was mainly a bitter tasteless feel. Overall I hope that China has better beer than this because this is a total bust.

Short-lived head... that or I didn’t pour right for a Tsingtao! Big-bubbled carbonation. Served cold and crisp. Pale yellow, very clear. A little too much like an American pilsner. It is what it is, I suppose. Not as metallic as I expected. Non-offensive flavor. Clean and cold, lightly bitter with a pretty bitter finish.
