COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Tsingtao Beer has a pleasant aroma and a well-balanced taste. It has high-malty flavor and well-hopped character. Tsingtao is produced with spring water from Laoshan, a mountain area famous throughout China for the purity of its water. The domestically-grown hops used to brew Tsingtao are of such high quality that they are also exported to European breweries. Tsingtao also uses the finest yeast and barley imported from Australia and Canada in its brewing process.

NOTE: Under this entry, rate ONLY exported Tsingtao that roughly matches the ABV and local Tsingtao that matches it completely. If it differs in any way and doesn’t match the other entries under the brewer, please send in a bug report with the alcohol percentage, degrees plato (important!), the GTIN and preferably a link to a picture of both the front and the back label so that we can set up an entry.

This tastes like the Chinese equivalent of the American macrobrews, only slightly better. Maybe that’s the mercury in their water. I could see this being a decent session beer for those who like pale lagers.

330 ml bottle from LCBO. Pours a light yellow gold with thin white head. Aroma is mild grains/grass. Taste is a little stronger but same profile. Fairly thin body. Meh.

Beershine (4561) - The Sunshine State, Florida, USA - JAN 21, 2010
Draft. Glassy, pale gold with beige head. Not a bad aroma, is grassy, metallic and slightly minerally. Its all downhill from there. The palate is practically flat. The flavors are not so bad, with bland cereals, and grass in the finish. A touch sour but not so bad. 4-3-3-1-7 = 1.8

Green bottle: Clear yellow with scant head. Aroma is phenolic with varnish, paint thinner but bland enough. Very thin palate. Bland beer with sweet corn aftertaste. 3-2-3-2-6 = 1.6

Bland lagery aroma and look. Palate quite sweet and lychee-like retronasals. Body quite watery, but crisp. Slight papery hops, but not offensive. A touch corny in places, fortunately no poop.

Bottle. Pale straw color with white head. malty aroma. Flavor is corny, mechanic hoppy. Maybe over pasteurized. Drinkable - for one time

Hopper (751) - The Alamo, Texas, USA - JAN 11, 2010
Pretty much I can’t believe I have to give this .5 as it looks like piss no head. Aroma is skunky with a bitter metallic taste. I hate to think what the Chinese put in this I guess I will find out depending on how long I live.

Tonkun (171) - New York, USA - JAN 1, 2010
Bottle. LIght yellow with quickly fading head. Vegetable and sweet malt but very weak aroma. Waterly, some fruit, but not much more. Short finish. Goes well with oily, spicy or salty Chinese food.

Nothing special about this one. Yellowish clear color. Aroma is of malts, rice, a slight skinked flavor, and stale hops. Flavor is the same. Thank god I don’t have to drink this again.
