COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Tsingtao Beer has a pleasant aroma and a well-balanced taste. It has high-malty flavor and well-hopped character. Tsingtao is produced with spring water from Laoshan, a mountain area famous throughout China for the purity of its water. The domestically-grown hops used to brew Tsingtao are of such high quality that they are also exported to European breweries. Tsingtao also uses the finest yeast and barley imported from Australia and Canada in its brewing process.

NOTE: Under this entry, rate ONLY exported Tsingtao that roughly matches the ABV and local Tsingtao that matches it completely. If it differs in any way and doesn’t match the other entries under the brewer, please send in a bug report with the alcohol percentage, degrees plato (important!), the GTIN and preferably a link to a picture of both the front and the back label so that we can set up an entry.

Vertical Bacon Strips (1615) - Asshat, Alberta, CANADA - JUN 15, 2009
The new fancy looking bottle makes this appear better but it’s not. The agressive pour still didn’t produce a cap that lasted more than 10 seconds. Nothing now. Pretty weak gold for colour but it is very clear. The aroma is mainly grains. Nothing offensive here as the smell seems fairly clean but it needs more and is just plain. Taste is pretty grainy with some nice bitterness on the finish but watery overall. Mouthfeel is decent with a foamy swish. Light bodied. Short lived mild bitter aftertaste. Reliable but boring.

Goblincat (367) - Westland, Michigan, USA - JUN 1, 2009
Pours brightly clear and yellow. Skunky nose mixes with grain. The taste is really grainy, and lacks much beyond that. Pretty boring, but serves its purpose I guess.

Appearance: Pours out a brilliant, light yellow body with a frothed, white head. Smell: Initial skunk whiff. Let me do the Jumble and I’ll be right back. Alright, now that that’s blown away, we can get some faint maltiness, cereal sweetness, and a light touch of plain floral hops. Taste: Faint maltiness with some standard cereal sweetness. Very mild floral hops with just a minimal, though growing amount of bitterness. Finishes dry and clean with a dainty crispness. Mouthfeel: Thin-bodied. Medium carbonation. Drinkability: Just another forgettable, faceless lager from China that makes me really wish I had some Chinese grub to pair with it. Mongolian Chicken, Pork Lo Mein, Moo Goo Gai Pan -- bring it on. Heck, I’ll even go for Broccoli Beef!

Bottle @ Chinese restaurant. Pours piss golden with a white shiny head. Honey malty smell with some hops, yes hops! Good first sips but the most dull palate ever. Very dead beer but no off-tastes so decent for a lager.

Bottle. Pale flat golden with no head visable. Grain and light hop notes. Same flavour. Thin bodied. Light bitterness in the finish. One glass is enough thanks.

Bottle at Mandarin Gourmet in Palo Alto, where it was that or BMC. Golden-yellow color with a fizzy white head. Aroma of pale malt and grains with the slightest hint of hops. Flavor is the same, thoroughly unremarkable but no worse than you’d expect. Palate OK but a bit watery. Could be worse (cough, BMC, cough!).
