COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Tsingtao Beer has a pleasant aroma and a well-balanced taste. It has high-malty flavor and well-hopped character. Tsingtao is produced with spring water from Laoshan, a mountain area famous throughout China for the purity of its water. The domestically-grown hops used to brew Tsingtao are of such high quality that they are also exported to European breweries. Tsingtao also uses the finest yeast and barley imported from Australia and Canada in its brewing process.

NOTE: Under this entry, rate ONLY exported Tsingtao that roughly matches the ABV and local Tsingtao that matches it completely. If it differs in any way and doesn’t match the other entries under the brewer, please send in a bug report with the alcohol percentage, degrees plato (important!), the GTIN and preferably a link to a picture of both the front and the back label so that we can set up an entry.

The aroma is very sharp and smells strongly of hops and cardbord-iness. You could easily read through it. The flavour isn’t too strong but comes on nicely with hops and lots of caronation. Fairly smooth, but also quite mellow. A good drink for the hot sun. Also can be seen with the old bottle in the movie "Bloodsport" with JCVD. It’s Van-Dam good beer!

12 ounce bottle from Beer Run in Charlottesville, VA. Huge amount of skunk as the bottle opened. Pours a clear pale golden with a medium frothy head. Poor head retention and lacing. Aroma of sweet malts, grain. Taste is sweet, grainy malts, corn, rice, very subtle grass. Thick mouthfeel but thin bodied. Slightly watery.

bottle, very small head fading away immediately, almost no head? Rice, watery, some kind of refreshing. My first Chinese beer. I don’t know if they have better ones.

Pours a pale yellow with a small white head. Aroma is a little skunky, possibly a little light struck from being in a green bottle and an open 6 pack. Some musty saaz hops and pepper show through with some boiled vegetables and a little corn. Tastes very musty, almost too musty. Over boiled vegetables and a floral perfume like mid palate. Peppers and corn are there as well. Palate is well, forced carbonated... What else can I say. I’d drink it again but only if I had to.

Another skunky foreign lager. Light notes of grass, grain, and some very distant peppery hops. Very clean but drab flavor. Watered down quite a bit. No doubt like their toys this contains lead as well.

Sampled on 3/22/2009. This Pale lager pours a fizzy gold beer color from a 640ml green bottle. Small sized, quickly dissipating foamy head. The aroma is horrid, skunk, urine, cereal, some malt and then some artificial chemical smell, wet dog and cardboard, it does settle down to a bad euro lager smell after a while. A light bodied Pale Lager. The malts are cereal and grainy, with a bunch of rice. The hops are slightly spicy. Very weak and watery tasting. There is an overall taste of cardboard and wet dog as it warms. Is this supposed to be a Chinese version of Heineken? Its just horrid. Mouthfeel is thin. Finish is crisp. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.
