COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Tsingtao Beer has a pleasant aroma and a well-balanced taste. It has high-malty flavor and well-hopped character. Tsingtao is produced with spring water from Laoshan, a mountain area famous throughout China for the purity of its water. The domestically-grown hops used to brew Tsingtao are of such high quality that they are also exported to European breweries. Tsingtao also uses the finest yeast and barley imported from Australia and Canada in its brewing process.

NOTE: Under this entry, rate ONLY exported Tsingtao that roughly matches the ABV and local Tsingtao that matches it completely. If it differs in any way and doesn’t match the other entries under the brewer, please send in a bug report with the alcohol percentage, degrees plato (important!), the GTIN and preferably a link to a picture of both the front and the back label so that we can set up an entry.

Very disappointing. I had heard decent things about this beer but at first open it smelled skunky. Taste was not as bad as the smell but you could tell it was either not fresh or was just a poor beer. Bad way to kick off the night.

Nice clean aroma, not too sure about the purported hoppiness though. The length of the journey probably doesn’t help. The flavour is initially soft, balanced and surprisingly fresh but develops an unpleasant industrial edge at the finish, probably due to the use of rice. Thin body. Ok for a light lager, but considering the air miles to quality ratio, I don’t see why people would drink this beer.

drinkable, crisp, light beer with a straw gold appearance and a thin, fizzy white head. clean but lacking the sophistication and complexity of other lagers

[829-20071108] 330mL. Aroma has a bit of metallic plasticky fish, a bit of straw, and a bit of sweet honey in the background. Clear, dark yellow body with a quick bubbly white head. Flavour has a sweet hint of light honey straw malt. Light-medium body has a little astringency. Would go well with seafood; nice sweet finish makes up for the smell... almost. (I like how they kept the old spelling for the beer name even though its namesake city had to change with the new conventions.)

ekstedt (3624) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - JAN 5, 2008
Bottle (33 cl) from Systembolaget, Munkebäck, Göteborg, Sweden. Pale golden with a medium fizzy head. Contains rice according to the label, and there is some kind of oily, pear-ish, sake-like maltiness to it. Light in body with spritzy carbonation. A bit sweet with a tiny bitter touch in the finish. Not good, but decent.

Nice and light with a crisp clean after taste. Looks like a crappy beer but the taste is worth the beer. Definitly trying to drink it at Peeking!
