COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Tsingtao Beer has a pleasant aroma and a well-balanced taste. It has high-malty flavor and well-hopped character. Tsingtao is produced with spring water from Laoshan, a mountain area famous throughout China for the purity of its water. The domestically-grown hops used to brew Tsingtao are of such high quality that they are also exported to European breweries. Tsingtao also uses the finest yeast and barley imported from Australia and Canada in its brewing process.

NOTE: Under this entry, rate ONLY exported Tsingtao that roughly matches the ABV and local Tsingtao that matches it completely. If it differs in any way and doesn’t match the other entries under the brewer, please send in a bug report with the alcohol percentage, degrees plato (important!), the GTIN and preferably a link to a picture of both the front and the back label so that we can set up an entry.

I saw I have not rated a china beer yet so I picked up one of these. Clear yellow with a white head. Aroma is sweet, malty and little hops - citrus. Flavor is medium sweet and light bitter. Watery, thin bodied and soft.

Serving glass: Poured from bottle into Pint glass. Appearance: Light, clear golden-yellow with a minuscule head. Aroma: Sweet grains, hay & straw, and very light apple. Slightly skunky from the green bottle. Taste: Too sweet grainy malts with light straw and very faint metallic hops on the finish. Palate: Moderate carbonation, light body. Should have a drier finish. Overall: Meh. Kind of reminds me of Heineken, but maybe a little sweeter. Fortunately, it doesn’t get really bad as it warms, as Heineken does.

This beer really isn’t very good. Light golden in colour wtih some hoppiness on the nose but when drunk it’s very thin, lacking body, the hops don’ t taste overly fresh and the whole thing has that cheap hot country lager taste. I bet the barley content is variable and lower than the brewery would suggest.

Umm..don’t waste your money on the beer unless you want to say you had one from China (like myself). Pours clear with minimal head and very little in the way of bubbles. I should have taken those as real clues on how the brew would taste. My instincts were correct...in a word: yeck!

Palme (1200) - Bergen, NORWAY - SEP 1, 2011
0.33l bottle @ Cafe Spesial, Bergen. Bottle says ABV 4.7%. Pours your average lager body; golden and pale with a tiny sidesticking lager-head. Aroma is just wrong. Grainy and metallic, slightly sour and the good old wet dog has most likely taken a bath in the batch. Lively carbonated, light-bodied and it has a really watery mouthfeel. Guess it tastes a bit better than the aroma could suggest. Light corn-like flavors, kinda sweet and it ends really quickly in a thin watery finish. Actually not that bad with the food I had, so this went from a horrible smelling bad-lager to a mediocre premium lager.

It was hot. Hemmingway hot. The beer was cool in my hand. It tasted of nothing, but nothing was what I needed.

Very light colour, a bit metallic on the nose. pale lager, with a hint of greenish hops. a bit of honey or something similar on the nose as well. surprisingly soft and full on the palate. a bit of bitterness, light taste, more corn-ish than malt.
