COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Tsingtao Beer has a pleasant aroma and a well-balanced taste. It has high-malty flavor and well-hopped character. Tsingtao is produced with spring water from Laoshan, a mountain area famous throughout China for the purity of its water. The domestically-grown hops used to brew Tsingtao are of such high quality that they are also exported to European breweries. Tsingtao also uses the finest yeast and barley imported from Australia and Canada in its brewing process.

NOTE: Under this entry, rate ONLY exported Tsingtao that roughly matches the ABV and local Tsingtao that matches it completely. If it differs in any way and doesn’t match the other entries under the brewer, please send in a bug report with the alcohol percentage, degrees plato (important!), the GTIN and preferably a link to a picture of both the front and the back label so that we can set up an entry.

Bottle. Head was small with a white slightly frothy sparkle. Spare lacing. Clear slightly sparkling body. Color was pale yellow. Aroma was light malt, grass, rice. Light bodied with a thin texture and an average carbonation. Light sweet flavor with light notes of bitterness. Short finish.

Holy lord... it's like drinking a skunk. This stuff is like liquid death. I actually think Bud might be better than this.

Aroma is hoppy, slightly malty, skunky and something weird (which should be the rice). Clear, golden coloured with a fast diminishing head. Taste is better than smell. Initially sparkling beer, becomes more bitter. hoppy, (too) sweet and a little floral. Fresh palate, slightly dry. At least it tastes better than I expected.

33cl found at Colruyt.

I wonder if this style of beer is easy to produce. I ask because it appears all over the world in a variety of guises, from North America, Europe, South Africa, Australasia and South Asia, all tasting very similar to one another. This one’s not bad.

Dry, crisp, clean, nice hops. Good white bubbly head. Nothing too distinguishing but nothing that detracts from a clean beverage. Better than most american standards and not a bad pilsener just somewhat light.

Why is it that un-/under- developed countries produce bad beer? Is it a requirement? Pours yellow - big shock there. Smells slightly skunked but otherwise sweet with notes of corn - another surprise. Taste is not too awful. Again sweet, and a bit crisp. Mild hops. Better than most of them. Finish is slightly bittersweet. Not the worst but it continues a bad trend.

UPDATED: NOV 21, 2006 Rerate 10/25/04 Just nothing to really get excited about with this one - just an ordinary Asian lager; thin dry, slightly bland. Slight hop presence. Original 2.8 Not a bad way to kill 10 minutes while waiting for my Chinese take out. Olive oil-like aroma, unusual, but not unpleasant. Little to no head - but what is there has a lot of lacing. Very dry flavor - leaves you thirsty almost! Quite a bite to it. Stays strong throughout.
