COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Tsingtao Beer has a pleasant aroma and a well-balanced taste. It has high-malty flavor and well-hopped character. Tsingtao is produced with spring water from Laoshan, a mountain area famous throughout China for the purity of its water. The domestically-grown hops used to brew Tsingtao are of such high quality that they are also exported to European breweries. Tsingtao also uses the finest yeast and barley imported from Australia and Canada in its brewing process.

NOTE: Under this entry, rate ONLY exported Tsingtao that roughly matches the ABV and local Tsingtao that matches it completely. If it differs in any way and doesn’t match the other entries under the brewer, please send in a bug report with the alcohol percentage, degrees plato (important!), the GTIN and preferably a link to a picture of both the front and the back label so that we can set up an entry.

A waste of good rice. The aroma I got was disgusting--not inappropriate to say it reminded me of a garbage pile, but also like the starch residue on a cooking pot when you leave it sit out overnight after making rice. The color was amazing--highly artificial translucence in an ugly urine-yellow. The flavor was only slightly better. This was a drain pour, literally, after half the bottle.

Bottle in green glass, EXP18102012, at 4.7% abv. Lightly grass hops in the nose, sweet, medium corn. Fizzy white head on a yellow body. Taste is sweet, surprisingly grainy, artificial sweetener on top of corn, grass, very mild bitterness. Light body fizzy with soapish character. Unclean.

Hoppy, sweet aroma, bit of adjunct. Weak but pleasant. Bright amber color with slight head. Medium, watery body and medium carbonation. Crisp and refreshing. Slightly sweet with mild bitter end and after. A nice everyday beer, really good with spicy food.

Clear yellow with a white head. Aroma is sweet, malty and fairly hoppy - citrus. Flavor is medium sweet and light bitter. Watery, thin bodied and soft. 210211

UPDATED: JUN 5, 2011 Old review (German Export 5% version):
Ooh, my first Chinese beer. Pours a medium sized and thick white head. Surprise, surprise, it was pale and yellow. Bad malt nose, comparable to a n/a nose. Oh, and my Tsingtao (German export, but found in the Scout Club Irish Pub in Samobor) had 5% alc.. The taste was cardboardy, but the lemon dominated. Why on earth is this imported here ? (3/2/4/1/8)

Not bad for a mass-produced beer. Originally brewed by the Germans then the brewery was handed over to the Chinese. A skunky hop-aroma with an herbal characteristic. Light body. Drinkable, good for parties.

Pours bright gold into a snifter. Bright white head recedes to skim surface and hug rim. Skunk aromas. Crisp and slightly sweet upfront with a sour finish. Doesn’t taste as bad as it smells...

Bottle. Pours light gold with a frothy white head. The taste is a light mix of hops and a sweet malt. Not much going on here, pretty lame.
