COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Tsingtao Beer has a pleasant aroma and a well-balanced taste. It has high-malty flavor and well-hopped character. Tsingtao is produced with spring water from Laoshan, a mountain area famous throughout China for the purity of its water. The domestically-grown hops used to brew Tsingtao are of such high quality that they are also exported to European breweries. Tsingtao also uses the finest yeast and barley imported from Australia and Canada in its brewing process.

NOTE: Under this entry, rate ONLY exported Tsingtao that roughly matches the ABV and local Tsingtao that matches it completely. If it differs in any way and doesn’t match the other entries under the brewer, please send in a bug report with the alcohol percentage, degrees plato (important!), the GTIN and preferably a link to a picture of both the front and the back label so that we can set up an entry.

UPDATED: AUG 7, 2003 This beer was a little too malty for my taste, almost a warm buttery taste at first, followed by a heineken-esque flavor. I had this while eating chinese food and it went very well with the meal. Has a very cloudy pale look while being poured with almost no head at all. Nothing about this beer really screams drink me.

Didn’t expect much, but have been hitting some of these asian swills lately. Bottle opened with a strong skunk smell. Color was pretty light, yellow with a very slight off orange tint. Huge head merley from the artificial carbonation and it subsided just like a soda (some lacing throughout, though). Mouthfeel was decent for a swill and the flavor was corn malty with a mild (pleasant) hop finish that would be typical of a weak Pilsner. Wasn’t a great beer, but I’ve had worse.

Bottle at Yan’s Wok. Yellow with a white head, quickly gone.Aroma moderate malty (rice). Flavor moderate sweet. Light body, watery, soft carbonated. Doesn’t harm anyone!

It tasted old, and had no desirable qualities.

I've had this on tap in Hong Kong, very refreshing beer there. This was perhaps the best bottle I've ever consumed in the states. Very light pilsener coloration, a bit fizzy. Floral nose. Floral hops also dominate the flavor. Rather nice, really, and very refreshing. Not a complex beer, but enjoyable. Very prone to skunking horribly though.

33 cl bottle 4.5%. No yeast at the bottom. Light golden clear colour with a weak head. Aroma of rice, grain, malt and some hops. Flavour of rice, malt and hops very light but drinkable for a lager.

Gusler (2655) - Tucson, Arizona, USA - SEP 7, 2000
UPDATED: FEB 7, 2004 The archetypal lager color a bright gold, typical head modest and bright white, frothy in texture, the lace thin. Nose is quintessential lager malt and crisp, start is sweet, top is cadaverous. Finish is moderate in carbonation, hops apropos to the style, not a very good beer by any countries standards, but they sell a hell of a lot of it.

An ordinary blonde color with the faint corn/rice--beer aroma of mass produced, peroxided beers. Easy, clean flavor. While this beer does nothing to test the palate, it is palatable.
