COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Tsingtao Beer has a pleasant aroma and a well-balanced taste. It has high-malty flavor and well-hopped character. Tsingtao is produced with spring water from Laoshan, a mountain area famous throughout China for the purity of its water. The domestically-grown hops used to brew Tsingtao are of such high quality that they are also exported to European breweries. Tsingtao also uses the finest yeast and barley imported from Australia and Canada in its brewing process.

NOTE: Under this entry, rate ONLY exported Tsingtao that roughly matches the ABV and local Tsingtao that matches it completely. If it differs in any way and doesn’t match the other entries under the brewer, please send in a bug report with the alcohol percentage, degrees plato (important!), the GTIN and preferably a link to a picture of both the front and the back label so that we can set up an entry.

330 ml bottle. Rated @ 12.12.2009.
Clear yellow colour with a white head. Aroma of pale malts and some hops. Flavour of malts and mild hops. Nothing else. Watery mouthfeel. Premium? Yeah, this is a real premium brew.

GRM (2049) - Aylmer, Quebec, CANADA - FEB 19, 2006
Green bottle, 355 ml; eye: pale yellow, not much head nor effervescence; nose: malt, rice; mouth: I feel under attack by the malt, even the taste of rice is present, sparkly, relatively thin, malt as a finale, unbalanced; overall: not too often

Eructoblaster (2043) - Gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - MAY 17, 2004
Highly carbonated yellow body topped with a thick but quick fading head. Due to the green bottle, the beer exhales a skunky aroma in the first stage. Then comes a weak malty perfume. Taste is watery and lightly bitter. Palate is close to none. I am not disappointed because I wasn’t expecting more than a cheap macro lager.

Joeh (2036) - Buckinghamshire, ENGLAND - SEP 5, 2002
Very pale appearance, same shade as the white wine others were drinking, low carbonation. Very watery, slight hops – the alcohol is very noticeable. Tastes almost as if it is just water and alcohol mixed. If anything it is good refreshment with spicy food.

kook (2033) - Perth, Western Australia, AUSTRALIA - DEC 8, 2004
Poured lemon colour with a short white head. Aroma of boiled veges. Typical sweet corn adjunct flavour. Thin watery feel. Quite refreshing, be fine in the heat, but not my cup of tea i’m afraid.

asheft (2030) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - JAN 22, 2005
Bright gold with white bubbly head that lasts for a little while until it recedes into a thin cover. Some pleasant noble hops and some malt to balance it with only a touch of pepe le pieu. Very little flavour that contains some hops and, unexpectedly, raisin and grain. No bitterness to speak of. Light body and good carbonation level.

durhambeer (2026) - Durham, North Carolina, USA - FEB 6, 2010
UPDATED: FEB 7, 2010 Bottle. Pours clear super-light golden. Nose is grainy/grassy. Nothing special here, but better than water when you’re eating spicy Chinese. Many other better Asian "premium" lagers from which to choose.
