COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Tsingtao Beer has a pleasant aroma and a well-balanced taste. It has high-malty flavor and well-hopped character. Tsingtao is produced with spring water from Laoshan, a mountain area famous throughout China for the purity of its water. The domestically-grown hops used to brew Tsingtao are of such high quality that they are also exported to European breweries. Tsingtao also uses the finest yeast and barley imported from Australia and Canada in its brewing process.

NOTE: Under this entry, rate ONLY exported Tsingtao that roughly matches the ABV and local Tsingtao that matches it completely. If it differs in any way and doesn’t match the other entries under the brewer, please send in a bug report with the alcohol percentage, degrees plato (important!), the GTIN and preferably a link to a picture of both the front and the back label so that we can set up an entry.

(Bottle) Pours a yellow color with a small, fizzy head. Aroma of corn and light hops. Taste includes light sweet malts, corn and light hops. High carbonation. Not particularly good.

Bottle. Pours a lovely pale gold with a very small and ephemeral head. After just a couple of seconds I’m wondering if it was even ever there. Aromas of skunky hops assault me from a distance and closer inspection confirms that these are burying any other odors except for a few whiffs of apple juice that are scurrying for the exit doors. Flavor is poor... a bit of apple juice, some adjuncty-lagery malt and those damn hops seem to have fled while the getting was good. I’m not sure about this "spring water from Laoshan." I don’t really know if it added anything, and I’m begining to think it might be a simple marketing trick... Even so, if they handed these out for free at work I’d probably drink another.

12 oz bottle from El Dorado. clear light golden in color. Aroma- grassy, grainy, and light sour notes. Taste is also grainy, pretty sweet, with some medium astringency in the finish. better than the american macros for the most part.

Boring, bland, and so many better choices abound for this cuisine. But if that’s the only import they offer, I’ll have one or four...

12oz bottle. Pours a crystal clear, pale straw-yellow colored body with a thin, fizzy, white head that dissipates quickly and leaves a light lacing. Aroma is light and malty with some sweet cereal grains, corn, and a light grassy fruit. Flavor is similar. Sweeter, pale, grainy, cereal malts with a light grassy hopping. Finishes dry and crisp with a light, balancing bitterness, but its pretty bland. Short aftertaste following a light, crisp body and moderate carbonation. Overall, maybe I got a decent bottle, but this wasn’t as skunky or feet-ish as some of the other ratings. It was light and crisp with a bit of a sweet, cereal maltiness and a decent, but bland hopping. This isn’t as bad as some people have claimed, but its nothing to write home about.

Uggh. Unpleasant aroma. Pale in color and even paler in taste. Appropriately loaded with rice. Not good.

I’ve had this crap a few times in the past but just recently had it while dining out with the family on Chinese. My wife and daughter both remarked how funny the beer looked and my wife said "is it supposed to look that pale?" I confirmed that it was and she said any less yellow and it’d be clear. Ha! A clear beer! While most of us scoff at the idea, the majority of the masses drink crap like this everyday. I found no redeeming qualities to this beer, nor did it make the food better (or vice versa). I sometimes find Mexican beers enhance the flavor of the food, but this did nothing of the like. Not quite water-like consistancy in the mouth, I doubt I’ll be drinking this again ever. Ughh...
