COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Tsingtao Beer has a pleasant aroma and a well-balanced taste. It has high-malty flavor and well-hopped character. Tsingtao is produced with spring water from Laoshan, a mountain area famous throughout China for the purity of its water. The domestically-grown hops used to brew Tsingtao are of such high quality that they are also exported to European breweries. Tsingtao also uses the finest yeast and barley imported from Australia and Canada in its brewing process.

NOTE: Under this entry, rate ONLY exported Tsingtao that roughly matches the ABV and local Tsingtao that matches it completely. If it differs in any way and doesn’t match the other entries under the brewer, please send in a bug report with the alcohol percentage, degrees plato (important!), the GTIN and preferably a link to a picture of both the front and the back label so that we can set up an entry.

UPDATED: SEP 1, 2007 i feel uneasy drinking chinese beer. who knows what kind of chemicals are in this swill, im sure the quality control is a joke. Anyways, with that said, its not too bad... I get it at the chinese restaurant once in a while.

Bottle at home. Very pale golden pour, almost no head. Grainy skunked aroma and a very skunked watery flavor. No finish. Average carbonation. Quite dull.

Sham (1846) - Seattle, Washington, USA - APR 25, 2004
Very pale yellow pour. Rocky head and some spotty lacing. Very sharp notes of malts and a bit of hops. Slightly yeasty. Flavor not so acrid. The hops are citrusy and the malts are sweet. Bitter finish to an average pils.

Elwood (1834) - Between a rock and a hard place, Virginia, USA - MAR 4, 2010
Serving: 12 oz. bottle. Pours a pale gold with a very small foamy white head. The head doesn’t last long. Really struggled to get much from the nose on this one. Some stale grain and cardboard notes were about it. The taste is decidely bland with those oxidized notes carrying over in the flavor. An unrewarding bitterness chimes in too. The overaggressive carbonation doesn’t seem to help matters. Light on the palate with a weak, medium-short finish. Definitely pass this brew by.

kiefdog (1826) - Tampa, Florida, USA - JUN 21, 2009
Bottle from a local Thai restaurant. Pours a light yellow color with thin head. Aroma is light with notes of grass, wet hay, some light yeast hints of honey. Flavor is light as well with notes of grass, yeast, honey, slight floral hop notes toward finish. Generally light body with watery finish. Not bad for a pale lager.

This is my first Asian beer. Wasn’t too impressed by China’s effort, but it was better than I expected.
