COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Tsingtao Beer has a pleasant aroma and a well-balanced taste. It has high-malty flavor and well-hopped character. Tsingtao is produced with spring water from Laoshan, a mountain area famous throughout China for the purity of its water. The domestically-grown hops used to brew Tsingtao are of such high quality that they are also exported to European breweries. Tsingtao also uses the finest yeast and barley imported from Australia and Canada in its brewing process.

NOTE: Under this entry, rate ONLY exported Tsingtao that roughly matches the ABV and local Tsingtao that matches it completely. If it differs in any way and doesn’t match the other entries under the brewer, please send in a bug report with the alcohol percentage, degrees plato (important!), the GTIN and preferably a link to a picture of both the front and the back label so that we can set up an entry.

From a botte into a small lager glass: Straw-colored with a pretty "meringue" head. Some malt presence in the aroma, otherwise grainy. Very smooth and not excessively carbonated. No tastes really stand out (good or bad). I’d better try another to check consistency. Yup, second one looks, smells and tastes just like the first one did--good, but hardly exciting beer.

A golden beer with a small but OK head. It has a very hoppy aroma. And a very fresh prickling flavor - do I detect some brewing cereal? It has a nice bitterness - but for me new type of hoppiness. A very refreshing beer.

Dry, crisp, clean, nice hops. Good white bubbly head. Nothing too distinguishing but nothing that detracts from a clean beverage. Better than most american standards and not a bad pilsener just somewhat light.

UPDATED: MAY 19, 2003 Very pale appearance. Very different flavour, quite crisp. Head is unremarkable. Still, better than most macro-brews.

A decent Asian lager with some hop bite and some malt and one could do far worse. page 462 of Michael Jackson’s Great Beer Guide.

Bottle, accompanied by sichuan, natch. The malt is a tad sweet in this, not a bad beer. and it matches well with the cuisine.

I don’t find this that bad. Golden with a small white head. Floral taste with a little caramel.
