COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Tsingtao Beer has a pleasant aroma and a well-balanced taste. It has high-malty flavor and well-hopped character. Tsingtao is produced with spring water from Laoshan, a mountain area famous throughout China for the purity of its water. The domestically-grown hops used to brew Tsingtao are of such high quality that they are also exported to European breweries. Tsingtao also uses the finest yeast and barley imported from Australia and Canada in its brewing process.

NOTE: Under this entry, rate ONLY exported Tsingtao that roughly matches the ABV and local Tsingtao that matches it completely. If it differs in any way and doesn’t match the other entries under the brewer, please send in a bug report with the alcohol percentage, degrees plato (important!), the GTIN and preferably a link to a picture of both the front and the back label so that we can set up an entry.

UPDATED: DEC 5, 2003 Bottle. This is pretty standard fare, but it does have a nice chalky quality to it, and is reassuringly crisp. This is a classic session beer for a night down the Arcadian Centre in Birmingham.

My God this beer smells bad! However, I can live with the taste as long as I don’t enhale. Taste is reminicent of Alexander Keith’s, not exactly a glowing indorsement to some people but I like it. Not a beer I’d rush out to buy, but it reminds me of my favorite Chinese dive in Toronto...then again the last time there I got food poisoning.

I had this at a Chinese restaurant with Chinese seafood. It was okay and went well with the food, but I didn’t think it was all that smooth.

Surprisingly, I did not think that this Chinese beer was as negative as the reviews indicate. The flavor was not all that bitter, providing a smooth and crisp tasting lager. Lacking any definitive beer taste though, relatively poor in that respect. For a light tasting option though, not that bad.

Test vom 21.9.2004, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 6,10,8,9,11,9 - 8,80

Golden and flat with a fast white head. A light & grassy skunkiness transitions to light, milky nothingness topped with dusty grains. This actually tasted pretty good, with honey-coated malts and a bitterish, herbal finish. Plus, the flavor did not decline as the beer warmed up.

Pale yellow with 2cm of frothy white head. Lightly sweet, grainy malt with some subtle grassy hops. Light body, a bit more carbonated than balanced. Not much going on, buit what’s there is pleasant. Pairs well with greasy, spicy dimsum.

Better than average lager. Taste is a bit malty with some hops presence. Smooth to drink and finished nice and crisp. Better than most beers available at the local Chinese restaurant.
